Oculus TV on Oculus Go lets you binge anywhere

Oculus Go is almost like a the middle child of Oculus’ other existing VR devices, the full-featured Oculus Rift and the smartphone-powered Samsung Gear VR. Microsoft Surface USB-C dongle is a joke

It’s almost embarrassing, at least for Microsoft, that Apple would be at the forefront of pushing new standards like USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 while its premier flagship computers obstinately remain in the recent past. Admittedly, there are business reasons for doing clinging to USB-A and DisplayPorts but Microsoft seems to have intentionally missed the USB-C boat even in its latest … Continue reading

T-Mobile’s FamilyMode Helps Manage Device Usage

One of the trends we’re seeing these days is how parents are giving their kids tablets and smartphones to play with. Some have argued that giving kids smartphones and tablets at such a young age isn’t good for them, but regardless that’s what seems to be happening nowadays. However T-Mobile wants to help at the very least curb device usage.

The carrier has recently launched a new feature called FamilyMode.which is aimed at helping parents manage the device usage of their kids. According to T-Mobile, “While the carriers’ solutions only cover the devices connected to their networks, T-Mobile FamilyMode lets you manage, monitor, filter and set time limits for your kids’ phones, tablets, gaming consoles, laptops, smart TVs and the other Wi-Fi-connected devices in your home.”

In addition to being able to see how long your kids are using devices for, FamilyMode will also let parents keep track of what their kids are doing. This means seeing what apps they are using, which websites they are visiting, and if they don’t like what they see, they’ll be able to restrict those as well. This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen companies launch management tools for families, although in recent times we’re starting to see how more tech companies are creating “digital wellness” features for their products and services in a bid to cut down on addiction.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Spotted At The FCC

The rumors are claiming that with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Samsung could be launching the device earlier than expected. How much earlier? We heard early August which would make it slightly earlier than last year’s Note 8. It’s starting to feel like the rumors could be true because according to a report from Droid-Life, the Note 9 has recently been spotted at the FCC.

The handset in question was not explicitly named as the Note 9. Instead it was the model number that was spotted which was “A3LSMN960F”. Based on previous leaks and also based on Samsung’s past releases and use of the model numbers, it has been deduced that the handset at the FCC is more likely than not the Note 9.

What’s the significance? Given that devices need to be approved and certified by the FCC if they’re planning on being sold in the US, the sighting at the FCC means that the handset’s launch could be close at hand. The fact that it was spotted this early does corroborate with the claims that it will be launched earlier than expected.

It is possible that maybe Samsung just wanted to get the handset certified early pending any unforeseen delays, so try not to get your hopes up just yet. Either way we have a couple of months to go so do check back with us then for more updates.

This AI can spot fake photos that fool the human eye

It’s easier than ever to modify an image and that’s a big problem. In the days of social media and instant sharing, any given image can quickly go viral, gracing millions of eyes and, potentially, shaping the perceptions, beliefs, or attitudes of the people who see it. This makes it more important than ever to find and denounce fake photos … Continue reading
