OnePlus often brings some software features that it introduces with new handsets to its existing models. The selfie portrait mode was introduced with the HydrogenOS 5.1.6 beta for OnePlus 6 last month and the company has now confirmed that this feature will be released for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T as well.
The HydrogenOS 5.1.6 beta was released for the OnePlus 6 at the beginning of June. It brought the selfie portrait mode to the handset among other improvements. The front camera portrait mode does what the name suggests, takes portrait-style photos through the front camera.
The OnePlus 6 doesn’t have a dual front camera and neither do the OnePlus 5/5T. The implementation of this feature is purely software-based. That’s what enables the company to port this feature to older devices as well since there are no hardware limitations.
The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T already feature a portrait mode for the rear camera and the company has now confirmed that it’s going to release the front camera portrait mode for the handset in a future update. OnePlus made this announcement in response to user feedback during its first Open Ears Forum in India.
OnePlus has not confirmed as yet when this update is going to be released for the OnePlus 5 and 5T.

Verizon has previously confirmed that it will be rolling out its 5G service to two cities later this year. Big Red today revealed its third 5G market for the year. The company today announced plans to launch 5G in Houston starting in the second half of this year. It’s the third city that the carrier has confirmed as part of its four market 5G deployment plan for residential 5G broadband. Sacramento and Los Angeles have previously been confirmed as the first two markets.
Big Red says that its initial 5G deployment in the city is support by both state and local officials, including Mayor Sylvester Turner. The carrier has a long-standing relationship with the city of Houston, area first responders, and residents.
Mayor Turner will be hosting a news conference later today with Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam and other executives to discuss the relationship between the city and the carrier. The news conference is also meant to educate residents and businesses on what the 5G deployment means for the city.
The news conference will be streamed live on Facebook. The areas served by Verizon 5G will include five traditionally under-resourced neighborhoods in the pilot phase of the mayor’s “Complete Communities” which aims to provide city services on an equitable basis.

Smart doorbell cameras come in handy when you’re not at home and still want to see when someone rings your doorbell. However, if you were Kansas resident Mackenze Bullins, you probably got surprised when the alert that you got revealed that a snake had trigger your Nest Hello doorbell’s camera.
When the snake slithered around the doorbell and triggered it she got an alert on her smartwatch that someone was at her door. She asked her husband to check who was there and when he looked at the footage he saw the snake, who looks quite photogenic mind you, looking into the camera.
Bullins got multiple alerts because the snake kept slithering around the doorbell which repeatedly triggered the alert on her smartwatch. She later posted the videos on Facebook captioned “This is NO JOKE!!…I’m at work and this freaking thing keeps setting off my doorbell camera!! Someone PLEASE come get this snake for me! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!”
She told updated the post to say that a friend had relocated the snake. The Great Plains Nature Center’s Todd Volkmann told local CBS KWCH12 that the snake in question was a western rat snake which does bite but isn’t poisonous. The snakes are common in the area and are known for climbing things.
