Westworld Maze Prop Replica Wasn’t Meant for You

Westworld is such an awesome show, with really deep and layered writing. It gets in your head, you know? The problem is, after that second season finale, I no longer have any idea what the F is going on! Who is alive? Who is dead? Who is a robot? I have no idea. Has the show jumped the robot shark? Instead of watching further, I might just play with this Westworld maze instead.

At least with this maze, I can be sure there is a good ending and a way out, unlike the TV show. Because with J.J. Abrams involved as Executive Producer, this probably won’t end well for viewers. The cast polyresin maze replica is designed from the actual prop that was used in the show and supplemented with digital assets. It measures 5 1/2″ in diameter, and you get both the maze and the logo display stand.

It’s the only J.J. Abrams maze you are ever likely to start and then finish, without spending years worth of seasons to do so. And you won’t feel frustrated and betrayed by the time you complete it. I’m a little sad they didn’t offer this on the inside of a scalp, but it’s still a cool collectible. Grab one over at ThinkGeek today for $49.99.

Galaxy Tab S4 Iris Scanner Confirmed By Firmware

A couple of renders of the Galaxy Tab S4 have appeared online in recent weeks. Some of you may have noticed that Samsung’s upcoming flagship tablet doesn’t have a physical home button. So there’s no fingerprint sensor on the front but the renders also show that there isn’t one at the back as well. This meant that the tablet may not have the sensor and that does appear to be the case as the Galaxy Tab S4 firmware files that are already out confirm that the tablet will have an iris scanner.

A video has been extracted from the Galaxy Tab S4 firmware which confirms that the upcoming flagship tablet from Samsung is going to feature an iris scanner and the company’s Intelligent Scan feature.

The Intelligent Scan feature combines both the iris scanner and facial recognition when unlocking the device. If one method fails the other is instantly used as a backup. Samsung hasn’t confirmed as yet when the Galaxy Tab S4 is going to be launched but it may not be long now before the company makes the announcement.

The tablet isn’t expected to be launched at the company’s Galaxy Note 9 event next month. There’s a better chance of the Galaxy Tab S4 being announced at the IFA 2018 in Berlin this September.

New Pixelbook With Smaller Bezels Reportedly Due This Fall

Google is reportedly going to launch a variety of devices this fall and if a new report is to be believed, we should add a new Pixelbook to the list as well. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, new Pixel Buds, and a new Pixel smartwatch are already expected to be launched in October this year and it’s believed that there’s going to be a new Pixelbook as well.

Twitter-based leaker @evleaks hears that this fall’s hardware lineup from Google includes a second-generation Pixelbook that’s going to have smaller bezels. The new device is said to ship before the end of this year.

It may very well be available before the end of this year if it’s announced in October. Some of you may remember that the Pixelbook was immediately available for pre-order after it was announced last year.

It was only the Core i7 and 512GB configuration that shipped in January 2018, the Core i5 and 128GB/256GB configurations shipped out a couple of weeks after they were announced. So it’s completely possible that the new Pixelbook may ship before the end of this year.

Pixelbook fans might appreciate that the second-generation device has smaller tablets since the considerably large bezels on its predecessor weren’t much appreciated by customers. Google hasn’t said anything about a new Pixelbook as yet, though.

Samsung Continues To Mock Apple In New Galaxy S9 Ads

Samsung has a habit of mocking its biggest rival Apple in its ads. The company is back at it again in the latest series of advertisements for the Galaxy S9. The new ads mock the lack of the 3.5mm headphone jack on Apple’s iPhone X and also take swipes at the iPhone’s camera.

Samsung has posted three new ads online titled Dongle, Fast Charger, and Camera. Each video shows an Apple Store employee in conversation with a customer as they try to favorably compare the iPhone to the Galaxy S9.

In the ad titled Dongle, the customer asks the employee if he will be able to use his wired headphones with the iPhone X. He’s told that a dongle is required and when the customer asks whether he’ll be able to charge the phone at the same time as well, the Genius tells him that he’s going to need another dongle for that.

The other ads are based on the same format. The one titled Fast Charger includes a customer asking the Genius whether the iPhone X comes with a fast charger like the Galaxy S9 does. The Genius proceeds to tell the puzzled customer that she will have to purchase a Lightning to USB-C cable as well as a USB-C power adapter for fast charging.
