Information About New Galaxy Note 9 S Pen Features Surfaces

There have been a few reports over the past couple of weeks that have revealed that Samsung will introduce new S Pen features with the Galaxy Note 9. The S Pen is now expected to feature Bluetooth support which means that it will be able to do much more than it has ever been able to do. A new report has brought some additional information about the new S Pen features that are expected to be introduced with the Galaxy Note 9.

XDA Developers dug into the latest Galaxy Tab S4 firmware and found that the S Pen will be able to control music playback and double as a remote shutter button for the camera app. A new AirCommand app was found in the firmware and the app’s teardown reveals that the S Pen will get more new features.

The stylus will be able to unlock the device if it’s not in the slot. Users will also be able to set up actions for single and double press of the S Pen’s button. There may even be additional features that will be limited to Samsung’s proprietary apps while the S Pen SDK might also enable developers to take advantage of the new features.

The information obtained from the Galaxy Tab S4’s firmware also suggests that a new S Pen may also be offered with the upcoming flagship tablet that will offer the same new features as well. The firmware has also revealed that the Galaxy Tab S4 is going to feature an iris scanner.

Facebook Confirms Internet Satellite Launch For 2019

Facebook had been working on the Aquila drone to deliver internet access to remote areas. However, the company recently decided to pull the plug on this project. It confirmed that it will no longer design and manufacture its internet drones. Facebook said that this project was not necessary when “leading companies” in aerospace are already developing their own high-altitude solutions for this purpose. Facebook is going in a different direction now. It’s going to launch an internet satellite.

Following the public disclosure of some FCC emails, Facebook has officially confirmed to Wired that it’s developing an internet satellite internally called Athena which it’s planning to launch at some point next year.

A spokesperson for the company didn’t provide any further details about the satellite but a shell organization that Facebook used in order to obscure the FCC filings mentioned that the satellite is meant for delivering broadband internet access to “unserved and underserved” areas. The low Earth orbit satellite would be on a “limited duration” mission.

What this means is that it’s likely going to be an experiment initially instead of a full deployment since a low Earth orbit satellite internet would require a major cloud of satellites to provide considerable coverage.

It goes to show that Facebook hasn’t given up on its ambitions of delivering internet access to remote regions of the planet. It’s just switching up the method of delivery.

First Aquaman Movie Trailer Released

DC fans have been anxiously waiting for the first Aquaman trailer to arrive and the wait is finally over for them. DC has released the first Aquaman movie trailer which shows that there’s going to be plenty of action in the upcoming superhero movie. The character has already made an appearance in DC’s Justice League movie.

This is the first time that fans will be seeing Aquaman or Arthur Curry on his own. He was a highlight of Justice League which was released in 2016 and since then, fans have been waiting for the standalone film to arrive.

The first Aquaman movie trailer gives us a glimpse of the aquatic hero’s family including his mother Queen Atlanna played by Nicole Kidman and his half-brother Ocean Master played by Patrick Wilson. An origin-story scene helps provide some context to those who may be new to the Aquaman story.

DC’s film franchise hasn’t been as well received when compared to the behemoth that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wonder Woman was an exception as it did quite well but the same could not be said for Justice League, which was actually DC’s least successful film. It remains to be seen, though, how well Aquaman will be received once it hits theaters.

Aquaman is slated hit theaters across the globe starting December 21st, 2018.
