New Wireless Charger Duo For Galaxy Note 9 And Galaxy Watch Leaks

Samsung has already confirmed that the Galaxy Note 9 will be unveiled on August 9th. Some recent reports have claimed that the upcoming Galaxy Watch, the rebranded successor to the Gear S3 smartwatch, will also be launched alongside the new flagship smartphone. That now appears to be the case as the new “Wireless Charger Duo” has leaked online. This accessory will be capable of charging the Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy Watch at the same time.

Samsung isn’t just expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch alongside the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9th. A report earlier this week also claimed that the smartwatch is going to be released on August 24th, the very same day that Samsung is said to release the Galaxy Note 9.

An image of the Wireless Charger Duo’s box has been leaked online which confirms that it will support dual fast wireless charging. The two pads will be able to charge either two smartphones at the same time or a smartphone and the Galaxy Watch.

The box has consequently confirmed the existence of the Galaxy Watch as well. It even confirms that the smartwatch won’t be called the Gear S4. According to a report, this accessory is going to cost around $70.

It will likely be available immediately after the Galaxy Note 9 goes on sale. Samsung hasn’t confirmed when that will happen but reports peg the Galaxy Note 9 release date at August 24.

Your Uber Driver Can Now Sell You Snacks

Cargo is a startup based in New York that wants to transform ride-share vehicles into portable vending machines. It has announced an exclusive partnership with Uber in the United States to distribute its mini vending machines to drivers through Uber’s driver hubs. This means that passengers will be able to purchase snacks and even accessories like headphones during the ride.

The snack-filled box will be strapped to the driver’s arm rest and passengers simply have to scan the QR code to see what’s inside. Cargo says that almost 30 percent of the items inside the box are free as they’re paid for by brands for Cargo to distribute. Accessories like headphones and other items will cost a few dollars.

Drivers will get 20 percent of the cost of the item that they sell in addition to $1 per transaction even if the passenger only picks up the free samples. Cargo will send drivers refills once they run out of stock.

The boxes will be tailored to the drivers’ preferences as well. Those who mostly drive during mid-day will be supplied granola bars and breath mints while late-night drivers will have sweet and salty snacks to cater to the late night bar crowd.

Cargo boxes are immediately available for drivers in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Cargo will be shipping the boxes to drivers in other cities across the country as well.

Waymo’s Self-Driving Cars Have Driven 8 Million Miles On Public Roads

Google’s parent company Alphabet has its own self-driving division called Waymo. It has been testing its self-driving cars on public roads for quite some time and the division has now passed a major milestone. It has been confirmed that Waymo’s self-driving cars have driven more than 8 million miles on public roads. This equals to almost 25,000 miles being driven every single day which is considerably more than what its rivals have been able to achieve.

Waymo CEO John Krafcik confirmed earlier this week that the company’s self-driving cars have driven more than 8 million miles on public roads ever since Waymo put these vehicles on the road.

Some of you may remember that Waymo had announced in November last year that its cars had driven 4 million miles on public roads. Waymo has been able to double that number in less than a year, in eight months to be precise.

Waymo’s self-driving fleet currently includes over 600 Chrysler Pacifica minivan that are capable of driving themselves on public roads. However, in light of prevailing regulations, a human safety driver is behind the wheel at all times to take over should something go wrong.

Krafcik also added that over 5 billion miles have been “driven” in simulation. The self-driving cars encounter situations that they may not come across in real life during these simulations. The data that’s taken from running these simulations, again and again, is then fed into the machine learning software.
