YouTube’s new desktop video player ditches black bars

YouTube is home to tons of different videos and, therefore, tons of different aspect ratios. While YouTube’s desktop player is 16:9 by default (and indeed, that seems to be the go-to aspect ratio these days), there are still plenty of older videos that were recorded and uploaded in 4:3. Then, of course, we have the always controversial vertical aspect ratio … Continue reading

Latest Gran Turismo Sport Update Adds Microtransactions

Polyphony Digital, the developer of Gran Turismo Sport, had previously said that there would be no microtransactions in the game. It’s reversing course with the latest Gran Turismo Sport update which brings gameplay and visual improvements in addition to the ability to purchase cars in the game using real money.

Polyphony Digital has made more than 200 cars available for sale through the PlayStation Store. The developer has tried its best to not upset the community with the addition of microtransactions so all of these cars remain attainable through in-game credits as well. The top-end cars can’t be purchased using real money so players will have to grind in order to get those cars.

Only cars that cost less than two million in-game credits can be purchased directly from the PlayStation Store. Players in the Asia and Americas region can start purchasing cars today while those in the Europe, Middle East, Africa, And Oceania region will be able to do this starting August 2nd.

The latest update for the title also adds seven new cars to the game which include Lewis Hamilton’s 2017 Formula 1 championship winning car. The new Circuit de Sainte-Croix has six geometric layouts, this original track is based on the one near Sainte-Croix Lake in Provence, Southern France.

Tesla Could Start Making Electric Car Batteries In Europe

Tesla could soon announce yet another international manufacturing facility. The company recently confirmed that it would set up a plant in China to manufacture its electric cars. A new report claims that Tesla is now in talks with authorities in Germany and the Netherlands to potentially build a Gigafactory in Europe. The Gigafactory is a facility where Tesla builds batteries for its electric cars.

Citing officials involved in the discussions, The Wall Street Journal reported today that Tesla is in talks with the relevant authorities in Germany and the Netherlands to build its first major factory in Europe.

Two German states are reportedly courting Tesla to set up its Gigafactory there and the company is said to have held preliminary discussions with both of them. Tesla may be planning to build its cars and its batteries under one roof in Europe.

The scribe does mention that the talks are in early stages at this point in time and that there’s a possibility that they might fall through. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously said that he prefers Germany as the first location for the company’s European Gigafactory.

That would make sense given that Tesla already has an engineering division in Pruem, Germany. Tesla hasn’t confirmed or denied this report about its European Gigafactory so far.
