EA Could Be Considering A Free-To-Play Standalone Shooter

EA’s Battlefield franchise is an extremely successful one that has made the publisher a lot of money over the years. However it seems that the success of games such as Fortnite Battle Royale has not escaped EA’s attention, so much so that the game is apparently considering creating its own free-to-play standalone shooter.

This was revealed during its investor call for Q1 FY2019 where the company’s COO Blake Jorgensen seemed to hint that the company could be interested in pursuing that idea. The executive was quoted as saying, “I would say we’re interested in possibly experimenting with an essentially free-to-play standalone game that might be in a shooter genre or another genre, but I don’t think that’s how we’re looking at the Battlefield stuff right now. But you’ll see more to come on that in the coming months and years.”

However this does not mean that EA will take their focus off Battlefield V. Jorgensen reassured investors that Battlefield V will not be neglected. “You should expect that we’ll be delivering a full-featured game that features all of the traditional components of a Battlefield game in addition to new modalities of play including battle royale and delivered in a way that we believe we want to play, which is not just what you get at launch but in the context of a live service over time.”

That being said, it’s not hard to imagine that EA wants to experience the same success that Fortnite is experiencing. The game is said to have made Epic $1 billion based on in-app purchases alone, and that the iOS version of the game is apparently making $2 million a day, so it makes sense that EA would want a slice of that pie.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Campaign Will Last 40-50 Hours

There are some gamers who love to sit back and savor their games, then there are those who can’t wait to get to the end. The good news is that if you’re looking forward to playing Square Enix’s upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3, you’ll be pleased to learn that the game will last you quite a while.

In a report from Geek.com who managed to get their hands on the game’s demo, they found out that in order to complete the game, gamers can expect to spend anywhere between 40-50 hours. Assuming that players spend a couple of hours a day, it means that they will take about a month to complete its campaign.

However for those who love to explore every nook and cranny in games, pick up every side quest, play every mini game that there is to play, it seems that you can expect to spend 80 hours or more to really complete it, which means around 2 months worth of solid gaming. All of this sounds great, especially if you enjoy the story.

That being said, there is still a bit of waiting left to do because Kingdom Hearts 3 is only scheduled for a release on the 29th of January, 2019. However given how long players have been waiting, what’s another half year, right?

Can You Get Sick From Air Conditioning?

At the peak of summer, when just walking to and from the corner store necessitates a shower and a change of clothes, air-conditioning can seem almost too good to be true. It is one of the few staples of modernity without severe and readily apparent downsides: all it does, or all it seems to do, is make things cooler,…

Artist Creates Disturbing Superhero Figures Out of Insect and Crab Shells

Some people play with action figures. Other people play with bugs. Ew! This guy plays with both. Double ew! This student in Osaka, Japan known as @ride_hero on Twitter has a very interesting hobby. He makes action figures out of insect and crab shells.

We know this because he posted several photos of his disturbing creations. They may be disturbing, but I have to admit, they are also very cool and he is very talented. It begs the question, why does he have so many insect and crab shells laying around? And once you ask that, it becomes even creepier. He may be an insect serial killer. We just don’t know. Don’t want to know.

These truly are heroes in a half shell. One of his favorite shells appears to be that of the cicada, which make me feel all icky and gross. I have to be honest, there’s no way I could touch these, never mind putting them on my shelf.

Maybe he’ll make a Spawn out of prawn one day. I think that should be his next creepy masterpiece. This guy does really great work. Just keep them away from me is all I’m saying.

Mobile MOBA ‘Vainglory’ is coming to PC

Although it’s far more common to see PC games ported to mobile (Hearthstone, The Talos Principle, This War of Mine), that formula is occasionally reversed. Super Evil Megacorp’s Vainglory is a case in point — the high fantasy MOBA is coming to both…
