Xperia XZ3 to debut end of August with 48MP camera

It initially seemed that the smartphone world would be slowly transitioning to triple cameras, in no small part thanks to the Huawei P20 Pro. For now, though, Huawei can continue basking in the limelight as the likes of Apple and Samsung stay with their dual cameras. One OEM, however, is going to do one better, and we almost mean that … Continue reading

Kumo 40% Mechanical Keyboard Launched On Kickstarter

When most people think about keyboards, there’s a chance that many of them think of the regular full-sized keyboards with a number pad on the right, a row of function keys, a row of numeric keys, your alphas, modifiers, and so on. However there are keyboards of various sizes, and if you’re after something ultra portal, Kumo might be a keyboard worth checking out.

Launched on Kickstarter by TheVan Keyboards, Kumo is a 40% mechanical keyboard. As you can see in the video above, this is a very small and compact keyboard. For those following mechanical keyboard news, Kumo is the successor to TheVan’s MiniVan keyboard that was launched a while back which was also another 40% keyboard.

The Kickstarter for the Kumo will require a bit of self-assembly but it will come with all the parts you need. The PCB itself is a hotswap-style PCB which means that you can change switches on the fly simply by unplugging them and you won’t have to worry about soldering. The switches are also of the MX mount variety which means that it should be compatible with the majority of third-party keycaps in case the default ones aren’t your style.

Now as you might have noticed, a 40% keyboard lacks certain keys, such as a function and number row. These have to be accessed by pressing the Fn button that takes some getting used to. However if you are used to it and you wouldn’t mind getting your hands on it, Kumo is currently priced at $150 with an estimated delivery of January 2019.

Pricing For The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Revealed In Leaked Poster

Samsung is expected to officially announce the Galaxy Note 9 on the 9th of August where presumably details like pricing will be revealed. At the moment it’s really anyone’s guess as to how much the phone could cost, but we imagine it shouldn’t stray too far from the Note 8’s pricing back in 2017.

Now thanks to a leaked poster shared on Slashleaks by Ntkleak, we might have an idea of how much the phone will cost. The poster in question is said to have originated in Indonesia and based on the pricing, the model with 128GB of storage will cost around $936 based on current exchange rates.

Also what’s interesting is that the poster also seems to confirm a rumor that the phone could pack 512GB of storage, in which that particular model could cost $1,214 when converted. As expected the phones will not come cheap, but that has been pretty much the case with Samsung’s flagships over the years, so we wouldn’t be surprised if they were true.

In any case we should have all the official details in the coming weeks so check back with us then for updates, but until then take it with a grain of salt.

6.1-inch iPhone Rumored To Use A ‘Full Active LCD’ Panel

Apple has been utilizing LCDs for its iPhones for years, at least until 2017 where the iPhone X became the first iPhone to use an OLED display. Apple is expected to fully transition to OLED (or micro LEDs even) in the future, but as far as 2018’s iPhones are concerned, Apple will still be pumping out LCD models.

However according to a new report from Macotakara (via 9to5Mac), one of the main changes to this year’s LCD iPhone is that it could use Japan Display’s “Full Active LCD” panel with a “Japan Pixel Eyes” touch sensor. One of the advantages of the full active LCD panel is that it allows manufacturers to achieve ultra-slim bezels which are said to get as small as 0.5mm.

This actually makes sense when you consider a recent leak in which dummy units of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone were shown off. It showed that on the surface both the OLED and LCD models are identical in terms of design, featuring edge-to-edge displays, which now according to Macotakara’s report is thanks to the use of full active LCDs.

Of course this should be taken with a grain of salt, but hopefully it is true. We should find out in the coming months as September is usually when Apple will make an official announcement, although don’t expect to be able to get your hands on the LCD iPhone until at least October if the rumors are true.
