One of the biggest hits that came from the Switch isn’t exactly a game. Sure, it’s playful but it’s also educational. The Nintendo Labo cardboard platform has opened up new worlds and new inventions, showing what can be done with simple materials and a pinch of creativity. Now Nintendo is expanding that world further with its third Toy-Con kit, the … Continue reading
Nokia is a mobile phone brand that many around the world are familiar with, but there are some markets in which it might be more recognized and popular than others. Over in the US where brands like Apple and Samsung dominate, it’s not hard to see why the Nokia brand might not be as a strong as it once was.
However HMD is hoping to change that because thanks to a couple of LinkedIn postings (via GSMArena), it looks like the company is trying to expand Nokia’s presence in the US by trying to post together a team that will help it grow. This includes an e-commerce lead, a product lead, and a technical manager, all of which seems to be about focusing activities in the US.
Of course exactly what will become of this remains to be seen, but it is clear that the company is trying to establish a stronger foothold in the US. So far HMD’s offerings have typically been of the low-mid range variety which is more appealing in emerging markets where cost is a primary factor when it comes to choosing a smartphone.
We have seen HMD try to launch more flagship-worthy handsets and last we heard, the company might have a new multi-camera flagship smartphone in the works that could cost around the $1,000 mark.

There is a huge market when it comes to smartphone-related accessories such as cases and covers. For some, they prefer going the third-party route as it offers up more options in terms of customization, not to mention they are generally cheaper. However there are also some who prefer going official as it usually means a proper fit and sometimes also better quality.
If you’re in the latter camp and you’re anticipating the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 9, you might be interested to learn that WinFuture.de has managed to get their hands on what appears to be leaked renders of the official cases and covers that Samsung will be releasing for the upcoming handset.
These cases and covers come in a variety of styles and also colors that will help match the phone to the case. In terms of style, there will also be several to choose from, ranging from a case that features a front cover that can also help prop the phone up horizontally. There will also be an LED view cover, a silicon cover, and also a cover that has a kickstand at the back.
No word on pricing yet but like we said, official accessories can sometimes end up costing more, but either way we should have the details come 9th of August which is when the phone will be officially launched.

One of the defining features of the Samsung Galaxy Note series is that it comes with a stylus also known the S Pen. While for the most part it acts like a regular stylus, the software of the Note 9 does allow it to do more than just being a standard input device. In fact we have heard rumors that this could be further improved with the upcoming Galaxy Note 9.
Now thanks to a post on WinFuture.de, it seems that renders of the upcoming S Pen for the Note 9 have been leaked in full, giving us a good look at what we might be able to expect. Now leaked renders can’t always be guaranteed to be accurate, but if you recall Samsung’s Unpacked event invite for the Note 9 featured a yellow device which looks a lot like the yellow S Pen in the renders above.
For the most part the S Pen doesn’t look too different from its predecessors and the leak also seems to confirm that there will be at least four color variants of the Note 9. We have heard and seen a leaked render for a Coral Blue variant, but the S Pen for that color variant is not pictured in the leak. In any case we should find out all the official details soon enough as Samsung has scheduled their Unpacked event for the 9th of August.

Samsung is pulling out all the marketing stops to prepare for the announcement of the Galaxy Note 9 in two weeks. Those range from ads teasing the upcoming smartphone’s features as well as throwing shade at Apple’s flaws. That, however, isn’t the only new Samsung device that’s coming. In fact, the Galaxy Tab S4 might actually be arriving even sooner … Continue reading
Nintendo has just announced the latest in its Labo series of whimsical cardboard accessories for the Switch gaming console, and this one looks like a must-have. Called the Vehicle Kit for obvious reasons, the flat-pack, assemble-it-yourself add-ons include a steering wheel, gas pedal, “keys” that activate different vehicles, all of which work inside a cool-looking game that comes with.
Frankly this just looks like a humongous bargain. Perhaps the most humongous of all time. $70 gets you a whole fold-up steering assembly with shifters on the sides; a pedal that I really hope stands up to some serious stomping; a joystick for piloting a plane, a weird thing that controls a submarine; and a “key” that your Joy-Con fits into, which itself slots into the various other setups to activate them.
They’re all meant to be used in a game that, despite not having a name, looks insanely cool. It looks like a big island with secrets hidden all over the place that you just tool around in using your buggy, your submarine, and your plane, and whatever other weird vehicles you might come across.
You can race, spray-paint your vehicles, blow up rocks and cut down trees. There’s also a two-player mode where you battle with cars that have extendable arms for some reason. Don’t think too hard about it.
Of course you’ll have to put all this together yourself (I guess either I think kids read TechCrunch or our readers buy Nintendo gear made for kids), but we found Labo to be a delight to assemble and play with so that shouldn’t be a problem. It’s a feature, not a bug.
You’ll be able to buy this kit starting September 14 for $70, which, again, is obviously a steal. If any of us gets their hands on one ahead of that date we’ll definitely let you know.
