YouTube Introduces Tools To Help Non-Profits Raise Money

When it comes to monetizing videos on YouTube, there are certain criteria that one has to meet in order to qualify. This usually involves racking up a number of views, having a certain number of subscribers, and so on, which non-profit organizations might have a hard time trying to achieve especially when your content isn’t quite as “entertaining”.

However given that YouTube is more than just a platform for people to watch funny videos, drama, or rants, non-profit organizations do use the platform to try and spread the message of the work they are trying to do, and recently YouTube has announced some new tools that will help these organizations raise money for their causes.

As you can see in the image above, YouTube will be introducing a Fundraisers tool. This will allow content creators to introduce a way to raise money by allowing viewers to donate. There will also a community fundraising feature in which it sort of acts like Kickstarter or Indiegogo where organizations will try to set a goal, and users can then pledge a donation and there will be a progress bar that shows how near (or far) they are from reaching their goal.

Note that these are just some of the features that have been announced, and so far they are still in beta for select groups and organizations, but we expect that eventually they should start to make their way to more users.
