Android 9 Pie for Nexus 6, Nexus 5X arrives unofficially

They may not be completely open (they still require some very proprietary blobs) but the best thing about Google’s now-defunct Nexus line was how their lives could be extended almost indefinitely through custom ROMs. That character has once again been put to the test with the latest Android release, version 9 Pie, which is now available on the Motorola-made Nexus … Continue reading

Diablo 3 For The Switch Is Playable Right Out Of The Box

Due to the fact that the Nintendo Switch game cards are essentially memory cards, it also means that there is a finite amount of storage that comes with it. As a result gamers who purchase the physical copy of games more often than not find themselves having to download additional files when the game is installed.

The good news is that if you were planning on getting the physical copy of Diablo 3 for the Nintendo Switch, you’ll be pleased to learn that the game is ready to go out of the box, assuming that there are no patches on launch day itself. This was confirmed by PC Mag (via Nintendo Life) who revealed that Blizzard had managed to fit all of Diablo 3 into the game card.

Diablo 3 for the Nintendo Switch will basically come with everything that Blizzard has launched to date. This will include a copy of the original game, obviously, along with the Reaper of Souls expansion pack, the Rise of the Necromancer DLC, and also some additional Nintendo Switch exclusive goodies like in-game pets and armor skins.

Blizzard has yet to provide a specific release date for the game, but it is said to launch in the fall of 2018, so keep an eye out for it if Diablo 3 on the Switch looks like a game you might have fun playing.

Diablo 2’s Mephisto Finds His Way Onto Heroes Of The Storm

Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm is essentially an amalgamation of all of Blizzard’s franchises brought under one roof (or game). The game started out simple enough where it featured the more well-known characters from Diablo, Warcraft, and StarCraft, but over the years Blizzard has slowly started to introduce more characters that aren’t quite as prominent.

Take for example last month where Blizzard introduced High Inquisitor Whitemane to the game, in which unless you’ve played World of Warcraft before, chances are that character isn’t familiar to you. That being said, Heroes of the Storm is getting a new character in the form of Mephisto, who for those unfamiliar is the boss of Act 3 in Diablo 2.

According to the description on YouTube, “Dul’Mephistos, the Lord of Hatred, is said to the be most cunning among his brethren. Even while imprisoned in a soulstone, his vile influence corrupted the Zakarum and manipulated them into breaking the seal, giving him free reign to reunite the Prime Evils and enslave humanity. Now he enters the Nexus where all shall kneel before the Lord of Hatred!”

As Blizzard notes, Mephisto will be a ranged assassin character, meaning that his playstyle is more about damage dealing rather than tanking or healing. No word on when the character will be released into the game, but if you have a few minutes to spare, you can check out the gameplay trailer in the video above.

New Steam Play Update Lets Windows Games Run On Linux Machines

The other day it was reported that Valve could be working on something in which it would make it easier for developers to create Windows games that could also run on Linux on Steam. The good news for those running Linux machines is that it looks like Valve has something for you in the form of an updated version of Steam Play.

For those unfamiliar, Steam Play is where users only need to make a single purchase of a game to enjoy it on their Mac, Windows, or Linux computers, assuming that the game in questions supports those platforms. However with the improved version of Steam Play, it will now allow games created for Windows to run on Linux, even if the game does not have a native Linux version available.

According to Valve, this also means complete native support for Steamworks and OpenVR, and that DirectX 11 and 12 implementations will be based on Vulkan. There is also improvements made to fullscreen support, game controller support, and more. Essentially Linux gamers will be able to enjoy Windows-based games without feeling like they are getting a poor quality port.

That being said, not all games are supported just yet, and note that this version of Steam Play is still in beta which means that certain quirks and bugs probably still need to be ironed out. In the meantime gamers who are interested can head on over to the Steam Community page to check out the list of games that are currently compatible.
