I wear my contact lenses most days—especially during the summer when I hope to don some fly-ass sunglasses. At the end of every month, my two flexible lenses’ lives are over. Into the bathroom garbage bin they go.
That’s what I do, I drink and I print things. A 3D printing enthusiast has unveiled his latest creation, a life-sized version of Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones—which now gets to chill in his backyard drinking booze and sharing bawdy tales by the fire. Only don’t let him get too close. He might…
Massive, ravaging wildfires are now the norm on the West Coast, with the state of California now regularly breaking fire records, Canada’s British Columbia experiencing the third-worst fire season in recorded history, and all the smoke from those fires spreading across much of the continent and even further. But don’t…
Two classic JRPGs are coming to the Nintendo Switch: Grandia, which first came out on the Sega Saturn in 1997 before a wider release on the original PlayStation, and its sequel Grandia II, which debuted on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000. Japanese publish…
You don’t have to wait too much longer if you like the thought of a Google-powered soundbar. JBL’s Link Bar is now available for pre-order in the US for $399, with shipments poised to start in October. You won’t get a room-shaking system for that m…
HP has unveiled its new Omen Obelisk gaming desktop, a model with the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 Series GPUs. It was not as disastrous as the Windows ME or Windows Vista (though some might argue that it was) but Windows 8 and even Windows 8.1 were met with far more resistance than Microsoft was expecting. That unwelcoming atmosphere was extended to Windows Phone 8, which was actually less problematic, forever cursing that “8” generation. Given those factors, it’s somewhat … Continue reading
Neither Google Assistant nor Android TV is exactly new. You’d see one or the other in this or that new smart product. In fact, Google Assistant is pretty much part and parcel of the Android TV experience. But what about a non-TV Android TV with Google Assistant device? Well, that’s the rather unconventional proposition that the JBL Link Bar made … Continue reading
We expected that at IFA 2018, LG would probably have several new products to announce, and sure enough ahead of the event (which kicks off next week), LG has since taken the wraps off a new series of TONE audio wearables. These essentially continue the lineup of TONE wearables that LG has launched in the past, except that these are now equipped with AI.
The new LG TONE Platinum SE will come with a dedicated hardware button that when pressed, will launch Google Assistant. According to LG, the dedicated hardware button makes it faster and more responsive compared to saying, “OK Google”. Also by offering a headset and a microphone in the device, the use of Google Assistant will also allow users to translate spoken words on the fly.
That being said, LG isn’t the first to launch a headset with support for digital assistants. Bose had earlier unveiled the Bose QC35 II which was launched with Google Assistant, and later updated to also include support for Alexa. Sony also recently updated their headphones with support for Google Assistant. We expect that as digital assistants get more popular, we will start seeing more integration in the future.
LG did not mention how much the TONE Platinum SE will cost, but more details are expected to be shared at IFA 2018, which like we said kicks off next week so check back with us then for more updates.
