Nikon Z Mirrorless Cameras Will Feature ‘Better’ Sensor Than The D850

The Nikon D850 was launched last year and has been met with a lot of favorable reviews. It comes with a pretty big 45.7MP sensor, but apparently Nikon’s upcoming mirrorless cameras could actually end up rivaling it. This is according to a comment posted by a Nikon Rumors’ reader (via Nikon Rumors) who claims that the sensor on the new cameras will be “better” than the D850.

Now the term “better” is subjective and we’re not sure what the context is. However based on the details the reader gave, it is “better” due to the way the diodes are constructed and how it allows the sensor to capture more light, which on paper sounds like it would be useful for low-light situations.

It will also give lenses a’ “effective” larger aperture, where a lens could be marketed as having an f/1.8 aperture, but due to the sensor’s ability to capture more light, it will behave like an f/1.4 lens. The comment also offers up additional details, such as how Nikon is expected to throw in a free lens adapter which will allow Nikon’s F-mount lenses to be attached to the new Z-mount.

Given that there will only be three native Z-mount lenses at launch, the adapter could come in handy for those who already own Nikon lenses. The new cameras are expected to be officially announced on the 23rd of August so check back with us then for the official details.

Nintendo Introduces Anti-Cheating Tool For Splatoon 2

No one likes cheaters in video games. This is because it ruins the fun for everyone, and we’ve seen how developers over the years have toughened their stance on dealing with cheaters, where we’ve gone from warnings to outright bans. For Splatoon 2 players who are tired of cheaters, worry not as Nintendo has an anti-cheating system in place.

As reported by Oatmeal Dome, it appears that Nintendo has actually introduced an anti-cheat system to Splatoon 2 from a few months ago. Oatmeal Dome claims to have known about it for a few months now but has kept quiet as Nintendo was not actively banning users via the system, at least until another researcher has discovered it as well.

Basically the anti-cheat system will flag users who are discovered to be running model edits, replaced music in the game, text mods, and also save edits, just to name a few. Gamers who are detected doing such things will be flagged, and that players are typically banned after a day that they have been flagged (presumably they will be reviewed first to see if the detection was accurate).

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Nintendo ban players for modding, where a few months ago it was reported that Nintendo was banning players who had modified their consoles, and also banning game cards that might have been obtained illegally.

Skype Testing New Texting Feature For PCs

Since a lot of us work on our computers, having to stop halfway to respond to messages on our phones can be distracting and annoying, which is why many messenger apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, LINE, KakaoTalk, and more have desktop counterparts so that we can keep working on our computers without having to switch back and forth.

However for those who still need to reply SMS, there aren’t too many options out there for replying from the PC, but Microsoft is hoping to change that. Spotted by Windows Blog Italia (via Engadget), it appears that Microsoft is testing out a new feature for Skype on the PC that will allow users to reply text messages on their phone via their computers.

Microsoft has since confirmed the feature via the official Skype Insider Twitter account where they are dubbing the feature “SMS Connect”. At the moment it is only available for Skype Insiders so if you’re not part of the program, then we guess you won’t be able to take advantage of it just yet.

It also seems to be only available on Android where the feature has also been spotted for Skype Preview on Android. No word on when the feature will be made available to all or if it will arrive for iOS, but it could be a handy feature worth keeping an eye out for.

EU to force Facebook, Twitter, YouTube to remove terrorist content

The European Union is becoming the champion of digital privacy, safety, and fair play, whether you like it or not. And some companies definitely don’t. Valve Accidentally Launches New Broadcasting Platform Steam TV

Streaming is a huge deal these days, whether it be music, movies, TV shows, or games. This is why it did not exactly come as a huge surprise to see Valve launch its own streaming platform in the form of Steam TV, although it appears that this wasn’t really by choice as it was launched by accident.

In a report from CNET, it cites several sources who were reporting that Valve had registered a new domain called Steam.tv, and heading on over revealed that the website was live and functional and it was actually broadcasting The International, Valve’s annual DotA 2 tournament. The website has since been taken down, but from what CNET saw, it was completely functional where users could access their friends list and invite friends to watch videos together.

However like we said, this launch was by accident and completely unintentional on Valve’s part. The company has since confirmed the website’s existence and also released a statement which reads, “We are working on updating Steam Broadcasting for the Main Event of The International, Dota 2’s annual tournament. What people saw was a test feed that was inadvertently made public.”

No word on when the platform will be ready for prime time or what it could be used for, but presumably it will be another streaming platform that could potentially look to compete against Twitch or YouTube Gaming.

Elon Musk Thinks Tesla Could Build A $25,000 EV In The Next 3 Years

One of the reasons why electric cars aren’t as widely adopted is cost. Generally speaking they’re a lot more expensive compared to gas-powered cars. However Tesla has been trying to address this problem with the Model 3 which is priced at $35,000, making it one of the more affordable models around.

However $35,000 is still a price that many can’t afford, but the good news is that the company is working towards a cheaper model in the future. Speaking to YouTuber Marques Brownlee in a video interview (via Engadget), Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk was asked about whether the company had plans for an even lower-priced Tesla.

According to Musk, he thinks that in the next three years, they might be able to achieve a Tesla vehicle that could be priced as low as $25,000. Now it should be pointed out that Musk does not promise that we will see a $25,000 Tesla in the next three years, or if it is a guarantee that such a model is in the works.

The takeaway is more how Tesla could potentially try to reach that price point in the next few years, presumably as certain technologies become cheaper, easier to produce, and so on. Musk likened the potential of $25,000 Teslas to our mobile phones back in the day, where they were huge and chunky devices that were expensive for what you were getting, to the models that we have today.
