By 2013, a year after its founding, Upworthy had

Android 9 Pie Go Edition Release Confirmed For This Fall

Google introduced the Android Go initiative with Android 8.0 Oreo last year. It’s a watered down version of Oreo that’s aimed at devices with 1GB of RAM or less. With Google rolling out a major update for its platform earlier this month, it has now confirmed when Android 9 Pie Go edition will be released. Yes, it will release a Go version of Android 9 Pie as well.

Google mentions in its blog post that the Android 9 Pie Go operating system takes up less space on the device compared to its predecessor. Users can get up to 500MB of additional storage in the device with Android 9 Pie compared to the previous versions.

Android 9 Pie Go edition will bring some of the latest Android improvements to affordable devices as well. In addition to the up to 500MB of storage, the new Go version will also tout faster device boot times. With verified boot, users are assured of “top-of-the-line” security while an accessible dashboard will make tracking and monitoring data consumption easier.

Google says that customers should expect the first smartphones with Android 9 Pie Go to arrive later this fall. Existing devices, some of which have been launched in the United States as well, will likely receive Android 9 Pie Go down the road as well.
