Uber Uses AI To Determine If Your Trips Are Personal Or Business

People use Uber for work trips and personal trips, and sometimes in the heat of the moment, we might accidentally expense a work trip to our own personal account, and a personal trip to our work accounts. This means that it can get messy trying to sort out all the receipts and what not, but Uber is here to help.

Uber has announced that they will be taking advantage of AI to help users manage their trip profiles more accurately. According to Uber, “Using machine learning, Uber can predict which profile – and corresponding payment method – an employee should be using, and make the appropriate recommendation. By analyzing billions of Uber trips each year at an aggregate level, Uber can detect patterns and trends that predict the purpose of a trip.”

Uber also notes that based on their early estimates, it seems that these profile suggestions are effective at least 80% of the time. In addition to using AI, Uber has also announced that they will be adding features like trip reviewers and an in-app trip resolution feature that lets users review their trips and also resolve any issues that they might have.

We should point out that these features are for Uber for Business, so if your company uses and relies on Uber for transportation, these new features should come in handy.

Apple’s LCD iPhone Could Be Priced Starting at $699

Apple is expected to launch three iPhones this year, two of which will be OLED models, and one will be an LCD model which is supposed to represent a “cheaper” alternative. So the question is given the price of the iPhone X last year that started at $999, how much cheaper could the LCD iPhone get?

Based on an industry analysis by TrendForce (via MacRumors), they have predicted that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone could be priced starting at $699 to $749. This is for the base model which presumably will be offered at 64GB of storage. This pricing doesn’t come as a surprise as the iPhone 8 is also priced starting at $699, although you would think that the larger 6.1-inch display would mean that it could cost more.

However according to the report, the lower pricing is said to be in response to lower than expected iPhone sales last year, and also due to the stiff competition faced by Apple from Chinese OEMs who have been putting out more affordable handsets. However this lower price does come at the sacrifice of certain features.

If the rumors are to be believed, Apple is said to be doing away with some iPhone features to make the phone more affordable, such as using LCD instead of OLED, and also ditching 3D Touch, which admittedly didn’t really gain the amount of traction that Apple had hoped. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but if last year’s iPhones were a bit too expensive for your liking, hopefully the report of a $699 6.1-inch iPhone this year is true.
