Fallout 76’s ‘Perks’ Can’t Be Bought With Real-Life Money

Microtransactions are a popular way for developers and publishers to make money beyond the current sale of the game. Some games do it properly where gamers don’t feel the need to make any purchases, but yet can progress through the game just fine, but there are others in which it is clear that the more you spend, the easier it is to win.

The good news for Fallout 76 is that it looks like for some of the in-game features, Bethesda won’t let you buy it with cash. One of the new features of Fallout 76 is the return of the “Perk” system. These Perks will be acquired through “Perk Cards” in which some wondered if it could be bought using real-life money, something that Bethesda has since shot down.

According to Bethesda’s Pete Hines who replied to a fan, he said that Perk Cards are what players get when they level up, where they will get these cards every other level from levels 1 through 10, and every 5 levels after that. That being said, this doesn’t mean that the game is doing away with microtransactions completely.

It is expected that there will be microtransactions in the form of cosmetic items which won’t affect your gameplay, but pricing and other details about those are still under wraps for now.

DOOM Eternal Will Have Single-Player DLCs

Some of Bethesda’s FPS games such as Quake were clearly designed for multiplayer in mind, but if you’re more of a single-player kind of person and were disappointed with 2016’s DOOM for its lack of single-player content, not to worry because Bethesda is listening and for the upcoming DOOM Eternal, they have reassured that there are plans for single-player DLCs.

This is according to game director Marty Stratton who spoke to Polygon, and when asked about whether or not if there will be any DLC for the game in the future that focuses on single-player content, he replied in the affirmative. He also admits that 2016’s DOOM was a bit lacking in that area.

According to Stratton, “Honestly, if there’s one thing thing that I would like to go back and do different is to give people more of the [Doom] campaign post-launch. You know, more follow-up DLC from a campaign perspective. So we’re already planning that and I’m looking forward to it. We’ll talk about our whole plan.”

Of course things like when the DLC will be released, what it will contain, pricing, and more were not revealed, but this is something that gamers can look forward to, assuming that’s something they might be interested in. In the meantime DOOM Eternal has also yet to receive a release date, but it is currently planned for a release across multiple platforms including the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the PC.

AMD Unveils The Radeon Pro WX 8200 GPU For Workstations

Not all GPUs were made equal. While many might associate GPUs with gaming, the reality is that GPUs can be used for other things as well, such as video processing. For those who are in need for a powerful GPU for work purposes that might not necessarily break the bank, the folks at AMD might have something for you.

The company has recently unveiled the Radeon Pro WX 8200 workstation GPU (via Engadget) which is priced at $1,000. Now $1,000 for a GPU is a figure many might balk at, but when you consider the price that AMD is asking for for its Radeon Pro WX 9100, it is a lot cheaper. It is also comparable to NVIDIA’s Quadro P4000 which means that if your budget is around that range, you have some options to choose from.

The WX 8200 will feature a 2048-bit memory bus width and 14nm architecture, and also offers up 10.8 teraflops of performance. However in terms of VRAM, the WX 8200 will come with 8GB versus the 16GB of the WX 9100. According to Ogi Brkic, General Manager of Radeon Pro, “Professionals can fully unleash their creativity with the ‘Vega’ architecture at the heart of the Radeon Pro WX 8200 graphics card.”

He adds, “This powerful new workstation graphics card empowers creators to improve collaboration among remote teams with VR, create exciting new cinematic experiences and visualize their creations with ease, all at an incredible price point.”

NFL Dak Prescott Cowboys Pop! Figure Won’t Win the Funko Superbowl

Colorado is a strange place for weather. One day it’s 98-degrees and sunny, the next, baseball size hail is crushing everything, and the next, you wake up and it’s 40-degrees out and the leaves are changing colors. Cooler days and the end of summer mean football season is coming.

Being a Texas native, I’m all in on the Dallas Cowboys (Go to hell, Broncos!) even though they haven’t been that great for much of my adult life. I hold out hope that one day America’s Team will get back to winning ways. Cowboy’s fans needing a geeky collectible will want to get Funko’s Dak Prescott Cowboys Pop! vinyl figure.

Like the real Prescott, the chances of this Pop! figure winning a Superbowl are nil. At least you can throw this one across the room when the boys lose a game without anyone hating on you. Entertainment Earth will have the figure next month for $10.99.
