If you were worried that you’ll be missing out too much on the hi-tech fun if you opt for the cheaper Galaxy S10 model next year, you can now breathe a sigh of relief. If you wanted a phone that was as much a fashion or art statement as it was a tech product, you would skip Sony’s Xperias. For years, the company has offered its phones in very professional and drab hues of black, gray, and everything in between. It occasionally did show signs of whimsy, with phlegmatic green and copper colors, but … Continue reading
If you were expecting to see the LG V40 next week, the company has probably dashed that hope. Then again, the LG V35 ThinQ is barely 3 months old, so this at least gives it a bit more breathing space. But rather than come to the IFA showroom empty-handed, LG is resorting to its age-old practice of stretching out a … Continue reading
With Apple launching the iPhone X last year, there are some who are wondering what this year’s iPhones could be called. Will it be called the iPhone X2? Maybe the iPhone 9? iPhone XX? iPhone X Plus? At this point it is really anyone’s guess, and according to a report from Bloomberg, this is a conundrum that Apple themselves are facing.
The report claims that Apple’s marketing team is having a hard time trying to decide what its new iPhones could be called, given that they will all look the same (edge-to-edge displays) and will feature similar features (for the most part). There is also the issue of the 6.1-inch LCD model which is said to be the entry-level model, which could cause confusion amongst customers as Apple’s “Plus” iPhones are usually the more expensive model.
To that end, it seems that Apple has thought about potentially dropping the “Plus” branding. Instead Apple could actually be going back to an older branding with the “S” which was skipped last year when Apple launched the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, instead of the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus. This means that this year’s iPhones could instead be called the iPhone Xs, or at least that’s one of the possibilities.
Either way we’ll just have to wait and see how Apple plans on branding its products, which hopefully won’t be too long as the new iPhones are expected to be announced on the 12th of September.

With the Apple Pencil essentially being a souped up stylus, many have rightfully wondered if it would ever be supported on the iPhone. There were reports suggesting that it could, and more recently Apple has been reported to have signed on with a new stylus supplier which only served to fuel the rumors.
However according to notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, we probably shouldn’t get our hopes up for Apple Pencil support for this year’s iPhones. According to Kuo, his reasoning is that it is because it would not offer a good user experience due to the small-ish nature of the iPhone displays, at least compared to the larger displays of Apple’s iPads.
To that end it makes sense and we have wondered about that ourselves in the past. Not to mention Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs had rejected the idea of a stylus on the iPhone in the past where he was famously quoted saying, “Who wants a stylus? You have to get ’em, put ’em away, you lose ’em. Yuck! Nobody wants a stylus. So let’s not use a stylus.”
Many have criticized the Apple Pencil for its inability to be stowed away neatly, and given how pricey it is, losing it is simply not an option, so we imagine that this situation would be compounded even more when using an iPhone. Either way it remains to be seen if Kuo’s predictions come true, which we should find out soon enough as the new iPhones could be announced in the next couple of weeks.
