The rumors were all correct: Apple has finally given in and gave this year’s iPhones dual SIM support. However, Apple isn’t completely yielding ground. Because unless you live in … Continue reading

Nintendo Announces New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe For The Switch

Last month it was rumored that Nintendo could be bringing New Super Mario Bros. U to the Nintendo Switch. Given that Nintendo brought Mario Kart 8 onto the Switch where it was previously launched as a Wii U exclusive, this idea didn’t seem too ridiculous. Turns out the rumors were right because that’s exactly what Nintendo has done.

The company has announced that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will be coming to the Switch early 2019. This will contain both New Super Mario Bros. U and also New Super Luigi U games, in which gamers will basically be getting two games at once. Not only will Mario, Luigi, and Toad be returning as playable characters, but the Deluxe version of the game will also see the addition of Nabbit and Toadette.

As far as a release date is concerned, the game has been set for a release on January 11th, 2019, so if you enjoyed the Wii U version of the game, or if you didn’t get a chance to play it, now’s as good a time as any. Pricing was not mentioned but chances are we might be looking at it being priced like a regular full game, but we expect more details will be shared at a later date closer to the game’s launch.

Nintendo Unveils Official NES Controllers For The Switch

Controllers for gaming consoles have evolved over the years. While primarily designed to be an input device, over the years we’ve seen how companies have approached the design, where the focus is on making it more ergonomic based on the needs of modern games. However if you would love to see a throwback to the good old days, you’re in luck.

For Nintendo Switch owners, Nintendo has officially announced the launch of NES controllers designed specifically for the Switch. As you can see in the image above, these are official NES controllers that more or less look like the original, including its buttons and colors. It will of course feature shoulder buttons, and the best part is that these are completely rechargeable the same way you would recharge a Joy-Con, which is attach it to the sides of the console.

Despite the way it connects to the Switch, it will not function as a Joy-Con replacement, so take that in mind. Also it seems that these controllers are only available to those who are subscribed to the Nintendo Switch Online service, where presumably you will need to sign in with your Nintendo account to buy them.

We’re not sure if Nintendo has plans to eventually make these controllers available for non-Switch Online subscribers, but for now this is the only way to get them. They will be priced at $60 and are expected to begin shipping out to customers mid-December. More details can be found on Nintendo’s website.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 Announced For Nintendo Switch

Last month when Nintendo released a new trailer for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that introduced Castlevania characters to the upcoming game, the trailer started out with Luigi in a castle that seemed to be haunted. It was designed to represent Luigi’s Mansion series, or at least that’s what we thought.

Based on the trailer, many were wondering what the fate of poor Luigi was. Turns out you needn’t worry because Nintendo has officially announced Luigi’s Mansion 3, the third installment in the series. We’re not sure if how the trailer opened was coincidental or if Nintendo was teasing up the entire time, but either way for fans of the series, you’ll be pleased to know that Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

According to Nintendo, “Luigi’s next spooky adventure is in development for Nintendo Switch. Luigi’s Mansion 3 (Working Title) releases in 2019!” As Nintendo mentions, the game’s title is still a working title and there are little to no details available right now, save for the trailer for the game in the video above. Nintendo had also previously announced Animal Crossing for the Switch in a similar manner, so we guess we’ll just have to wait until Nintendo’s next Direct presentation for the details, if there are any to be had.

Apple’s Apple Watch Edition Experiment Is Over

When Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 4, what many noticed seemed to be missing from the announcement, was the Apple Watch Edition. For those unfamiliar, this was Apple’s way of trying to appeal to customers who wanted a luxurious smartwatch, but now it looks like Apple’s experiment with luxury smartwatches is over.

In a report from The Verge, it has been noted that Apple is no longer selling the Apple Watch Edition on its website. Of course for those who want to spend their money are more than welcome to, because they can always pony up for the Apple Watch with Hermes watch bands that will easily run them over $1,000.

However these are third-party options and as far as Apple’s own offerings are concerned, it seems that they might be done. Apple had initially started with a gold Apple Watch that cost $10,000. Apple later introduced a ceramic Apple Watch that replaced the gold version (which was also discontinued), but now it looks like there are no more luxury options.

Perhaps Apple realized that it was a really niche market and that maybe spending their time and resources striking up partnerships with fashion labels, such as Hermes, would be better than making it themselves. There’s also the issue of upgrades, where due to the fact that the Apple Watch is refreshed annually, there probably aren’t too many people out there willing to drop that kind of money on a yearly basis.

iPhone Xs, Xs Max Pre-Orders Are Live, Shipping Estimates Already Slipping

Earlier this week Apple announced their new iPhone Xs and Xs Max smartphones where they also announced that pre-orders would begin on the 14th of September (today), and it is also expected to begin shipping out to customers the week after. For those who are interested, you’ll be pleased to learn that pre-orders are now live via Apple’s website.

If you’re still thinking about it, you might want to move fast because it seems that shipping estimates of the new iPhones have already started slipping. For the most part it appears that the estimates have slipped to about 1-2 weeks, meaning that you might only expect to get it after the 21st of September. We expect that these delays will only grow the longer you wait, assuming that these phones prove to be a bigger hit than their predecessor.

The shipping dates will vary from model to model, storage size, color option, and your carrier of choice, so it really depends on what you choose. However for those who are buying it SIM free, meaning without being tied to any carrier, it seems that you will still be able to get your hands on it on the 21st of September, but you will need to pay full price upfront for it.

Apple’s new iPhone Xs will be priced starting at $999 for the 64GB model, while the iPhone Xs Max will start at $1,099 for the 64GB model.
