LEGO Forma Is Basically LEGO For Adults

While LEGO is typically marketed as a learning toy for kids, it’s safe to say that there are plenty of adults who enjoy spending the time putting complex LEGO pieces and sets together. LEGO is now recognizing that adults are having just as much fun as kids do, so much so that they have since launched a new line called LEGO Forma.

LEGO Forma is basically LEGO that has been designed for adults in mind. According to its description, “LEGO FORMA mechanical models are cleverly designed but simple to assemble. Sturdy rods and parts combine with customizable skins to create a joyful creative challenge. Taking design cues from nature, LEGO FORMA incorporates life-like movement, colors, and patterns. The result is an elegant conversation piece that’s a tasteful addition to any room.”

The company has also taken a rather unique approach to its launch by choosing to launch it on Indiegogo, a popular crowdfunding platform. According to the company, “Indiegogo is a platform that allows us to interact with an engaged, excited, new community that’s interested in contributing to concepts and product development. Tapping into this passion and desire to share ideas and knowledge allows us to innovate and launch products that are a bit different from what we normally offer.”

It is an interesting approach and for those who wouldn’t mind getting their hands on these LEGO pieces, head on over to its Indiegogo page and pledge your support, or you can check out the video above first to get an idea of what to expect.

Razer Nari Ultimate Headset Lets You ‘Feel’ Your Games

A lot of high-end gaming headsets we’ve seen offer up features such as virtual surround sound. Features like that typically help to enhance the gaming experience, and can be useful in helping pinpoint the direction that the enemy is coming from. However it seems that Razer wants to take things to the next level with its Razer Nari Ultimate gaming headset.

How do they plan to do this? While most headphones will focus on the things you hear, the Nari Ultimate will focus on what you feel. This is thanks to Razer’s HyperSense technology which uses haptics designed by Lofelt. Basically the idea is that it will let players “feel” their games, so in addition to audio cues, players will actually be able to feel physical cues as well.

We’re not sure how this is supposed to feel and whether or not it might be annoying over extended periods of time, but it is an interesting concept and we’ll have to wait see whether it takes. Other features of the Nari Ultimate include THX Spatial Audio, an auto-adjusting headphone, ear cushions that use cooling gel and also feature indented eyewear channels so that it will fit better for users who wear glasses.

As expected all these features don’t come cheap as the Razer Nari Ultimate will be priced at $200. There will be a cheaper version in the form of the Razer Nari that omits the haptic feedback feature, but retains everything else. That version will retail for $150.

Nintendo Wins Lawsuit Against Japan’s Faux Mario Kart

For years if you go to Tokyo, Japan, you will have the opportunity to dress up like popular Mario-themed characters and drive racing karts throughout the city. On first glance it looks like Mario Kart, but upon closer inspection it’s actually known as MariCar. It’s actually been amazing how long the company has been getting away with it, but unfortunately it has come to an end.

Over in Japan, the Tokyo District Court has ruled against MariCar in lawsuit filed by Nintendo, where they have since been ordered to stop lending out Nintendo-themed costumes, as well as pay 10 million yen in damages, according to a tweet by The Wall Street Journal’s reporter Takashi Mochizuki.

Nintendo had previously complained how MariCar was “damaging” its Mario Kart franchise, although if anything we’re sure many feel that it actually brings more attention to the franchise rather than detract for it, but then again it is Nintendo’s intellectual property and it makes sense that they are trying to defend it.

It is unclear what MariCar plans to do now that they will no longer be able to market themselves as a Mario Kart alternative, so we’ll just have to wait and see. That being said, even if you can’t dress up like Mario, Yoshi, or Peach, zipping down the streets of Tokyo in a racing kart still does sound like a pretty fun thing to do.

Superman The Movie to get 4K UHD Blu-Ray Update

Growing up, one of my favorite movies was Superman The Movie. Christopher Reeve will always be Superman to me, just as Roger Moore will always be 007. I’ve tried to watch the flick when it came on TV a few times, but I just can’t stand the blurry and crappy picture the movie has compared to films of today.

If you feel the same way, there’s some good news. Superman The Movie is getting the Blu-Ray treatment compete with 4K resolution and Dolby Vision HDR. Audiophiles will love the upgraded Dolby Atmos sound too.

The Ultra HD Blu-Ray combo pack includes the digital version and will sell for $41.99. An all-digital version will be offered as well. This was the superhero flick that pretty much started it all for most ’80s kids – this and Flash Gordon. I hope the other Christopher Reeve Superman flicks get remastered for 4K soon too.
