Google Cryptocurrency Ad Ban Has Been Relaxed

To prevent people from falling victim to cryptocurrency scams that were reaching a fever pitch during the heights of the cryptocurrency boom just a few months ago, Google decided to ban all sorts of cryptocurrency-related ads on its network. The internet search giant has now decided to relax the ban on cryptocurrency ads as it’s going to allow regulated exchanges to advertise on Google in select markets.

Google’s blanket ban on cryptocurrency ads came in June. It no longer allowed ads that promoted cryptocurrencies, exchanges, wallets, and initial coin offerings. It wasn’t the only major company to do something like this. Facebook enforced a similar ban on advertisements on the world’s largest social network back in January this year. Similar measures were also taken by Twitter.

Regulated cryptocurrency exchanges will soon be able to run ads on Google’s massive advertising platform in the United States and Japan. The advertisers will first be required to apply for certification before they can be allowed to place ads. They will have to apply for certification for the specific country in which they want their ads to be displayed.

Google has confirmed that it’s updated ads policy will go into effect starting next month after which advertisers will be able to apply for certification to run cryptocurrency ads.

Amazon Music Unlimited Has Been Launched In Canada

Amazon is expanding its Music Unlimited service to a neighboring country. The company has confirmed today that it’s launching Amazon Music Unlimited in Canada. New subscribers will be able to sign up for a free three month trial after which they will have to pay a monthly fee. The subscription rates will be different for Prime members and non-Prime members in the country.

Amazon Prime members will be required to pay CDN $8 for the service per month or CDN $79 annually. Those who don’t subscribe to Amazon Prime will be required to pay CDN $15 per month or CDN $149 per year. It will also be possible for users to go with a single device plan that costs CDN $4 per month. This will let them listen to music on one Amazon Echo device.

Amazon Music Unlimited should not be confused with Prime Music which provides Amazon Prime members with free access to more than a million songs. It’s a separate service that has been developed to rival the likes of Apple Music and Spotify. The service was only available in the United States and the United Kingdom previously.

The launch comes on the heels of the unveiling of several new audio products that Amazon launched recently. It may thus be tempting for many Prime members to pay the additional fee and gain access to Amazon’s full-fledged music streaming service.
