Galaxy P30 might be more complicated than initially thought

Just when you thought Samsung was cleaning up and consolidating its phone lines along S, A, and M brands, along comes a certain Galaxy P30 that throws that theory out the window. It would be exclusive to China, to be fair, but it was also supposed to feature something that the Galaxy S10 won’t have until next year. But now … Continue reading

Apple Music Converting Paying Customers 2.5 Faster Than Spotify

Unlike Spotify which offers an ad-based free listening tier, Apple Music can only be accessed by those who pay for its subscription (assuming your three-month trial has ended). This means that Apple needs paid customers to keep its services profitable and successful, whereas Spotify can still rely on revenue generated by ads.

However it seems that converting paying customers isn’t a problem for Apple, at least not according to Loup Ventures’ Gene Munster who writes (via AppleInsider) that Apple is apparently converting paying customers at 2.5 times the speed compared to Spotify, which Munster attributes to how iPhone owners apparently having more disposable income.

According to Munster, “Apple’s higher conversion rate can be attributed in part to iPhone owners having more disposable income compared to Android owners. A second, more material contributor is Apple’s ownership of iOS which distributes a seamlessly integrated music experience along with prompts to get iPhone owners to subscribe.”

He also estimates that Apple Music’s share in North America is at 21 million subscribers. Previously we had heard that Apple has overtaken Spotify in the US market in terms of subscribers, although it should be noted that despite that, Spotify is still very much in the lead, with Munster estimating that the company has a 62% global market share, while Apple is a little over half that at 34%.

Fujifilm GFX 50R Medium Format Camera Announced

A couple of years ago, Fujifilm announced and launched its first medium format camera in the form of the GFX 50S. Lately we have been hearing rumors that the company could have a newer model in the works, and it turns out the rumors were true as Fujifilm has officially announced the GFX 50R.

Now to think of the GFX 50R as a successor wouldn’t exactly be right, in fact as you can see in the photo, the GFX 50R looks very different from the 50S. In fact the camera does seem to be giving off an X-Pro kind of vibe, which is actually kind of what Fujifilm was going for. The company claims that the 50R was designed for photographers who wanted a lighter and more compact version of the 50S, that also operated like a traditional film camera in a rangefinder style, which is exactly what the company has delivered.

The 50R will feature a G format sensor of the 51.4MP variety, and will have an X-Processor Pro image processing engine. There is also a built-in EVF, Bluetooth capabilities that will allow for wireless photo transfer, a touchscreen display, ISO range from 100-12,800, shooting speeds of 3fps (which is a bit low), contrast autofocus, and video capture capabilities of 108p at 30fps.

In terms of pricing, the 50R is priced at $4,500 which by no means is cheap, but it is cheaper than the 50S by more than $1,000. It is also set for a release late November.
