iPhone XS Max snatches DisplayMate crown from Galaxy Note 9

And so it begins. Waze Is Now Available For CarPlay

With the release of iOS 12, Apple opened up CarPlay to more third-party navigation apps, meaning that users who didn’t want to use Apple Maps would now have more options, as long as developers decided to support CarPlay. Last week Google made Google Maps compatible with CarPlay, and now it looks like Waze is next.

If Waze is more your jam in terms of navigation apps, then you might want to update to the latest version of the app because it will now support CarPlay. Given that Waze is owned by Google, we can’t say we’re too surprised that support is finally here. However there are some slight differences between both apps.

For example Google Maps on CarPlay is pretty much straight up the version on the iPhone. However Waze on CarPlay will let users tweak more settings, such as using daytime maps at night, and vice versa. They can also change their icon on Waze that represents their car. Users will also be submit information to Waze, such as accidents, traffic reports, and so on.

Users will need to have the latest version of Waze in order to take advantage of the new compatibility, so update the app if you haven’t done so already. Waze is a free download and can be found on the App Store.

Microsoft Releases OneDrive Files On-Demand For Mac

Microsoft’s OneDrive Files On-Demand feature is now available for users on macOS. The company today confirmed that it’s bringing OneDrive Files On-Demand to the rival operating system. This feature is available starting today for OneDrive beta testers.

OneDrive Files On-Demand was announced in May last year. It allows users to access all of their files in the cloud without having to download them and for them to take up local storage space on their device. All of those files could be seen in File Explorer so users could continue working as they always have even though the files would be in the cloud.

This feature is now being released for the macOS in beta. Files that users have uploaded will now show up in the macOS Finder as well. The files don’t have to be downloaded and the feature will only download them as and when required by the user. It won’t automatically sync every file and users do have the option to opt for the files that do get synced.

The feature will require macOS 10.14 Mojave which is due to be released later today. An Apple File System formatted volume will be required for it to function. Those who are interested can sign up to try Files On-Demand for Mac in beta.
