Bezalel Prelude wireless charger enters its second iteration

BezalelWireless charging has become a common feature in many mobile devices, smartphones especially. The higher end models tend to feature the ability to get powered up sans pesky cables, adding to the overall cool factor. However, most wireless charging points are static, but Bezalel intends to change all of that with the Prelude, a wireless charger that is the first of its kind. Touted to be the first portable wireless charger in the world that sports a 15W quick charge speed as well as nano-suction technology, the Prelude will be able to attach itself securely to the latest smartphones without missing a beat.

This is a second generation model, where it makes use of nano-suction technology in order to achieve suction power unlike any other before. With the clever use of such technology, it will offer a substantial benefit for active smartphone users who are into gaming, snapping selfies/videos or virtually any other kind of activity that accelerates battery drain. The charger will adhere directly to most of the latest smartphone models without having to tack on an accessory magnet or case. All you need to do is to place the back of your handset on the Prelude’s nano-suction pad, and a secure bond is created for the charging process to begin.

Among the latest smartphones that will benefit from the Prelude’s fast 15W wireless charging speed would be the Samsung Galaxy series and Apple iPhone models. With a large-capacity 5000mAh battery, the Prelude provides powerful charging in a very compact form factor, measuring all of just 17mm thin while tipping the scales at 5 ounces. It will also be able to fit easily into a pocket or purse, without requiring you to sacrifice on your handset’s aesthetics as it remains attached to the back of a phone.

Being fully mobile, the Prelude can be recharged for use anywhere, and even another wireless charger can do the job. A combo pack for the Prelude and Bezalel’s Latitude case for the iPhone would come with an asking price of $50.

Google Play Update Helps Make App Installs Smaller

Just like computers, when smartphones were first launched, apps in general weren’t that big. However as our phones got more capable, app install sizes got larger to accommodate all the necessary assets, such as higher-res audio files, higher-res textures for graphics in games, and so on.

This has resulted in our phones needing more space with every generation. However for those who have a hard time managing storage or wish that apps weren’t as big, Google has got you covered. The company has announced an update to Google Play in which they are making app installs smaller.

Basically what they’ve done is that they’ve made it so that whenever apps are installed, only the core essentials that an app needs to function are installed, thus removing any extra unnecessary files that could otherwise impact the size of the install negatively. This is part of a new publishing format that Google calls the “Android App Bundle”.

According to Google, “When a user installs the app, Play delivers the base split APK (all the code that’s common for every device), the language split APKs (for the languages the user speaks), and the device configuration split APKs (for the device’s screen size and the CPU architecture). This means the device gets just what it needs without wasted space.” Exactly how much storage is saved will vary from app to app, with some developers claiming to see 23% in size savings.

Google Announces More Third-Party Integrations For Gmail

Gmail has become one of the default email services that many people use, but given that Google can only do so much or provide so much services, it’s not surprising that people sometimes turn to other companies for their different needs. For example some users might prefer using Dropbox over Google Drive.

This is why Google has introduced Dropbox integration with Gmail in the past for consumers, but the good news is that if you’re a G Suite user (Google’s attempt at catering to enterprise users), then you might be pleased to learn that Google has announced additional third-party integrations for Gmail, Dropbox included.

These integrations include Box where the add-on for Gmail will let users quick attach files to emails from their Box accounts. The same will be applicable for Dropbox, where users can choose to either attach a file directly from their Dropbox account to Gmail, or insert a link if they prefer.

There will also be support for Atlassian where users can add previews of Jira issues to their emails, or from Bitbucket. Last but not least is Egnyte where the add-on will let users save email attachments to Egnyte, as well as link Egnyte files and folders in their Gmail compose window.
