SoundCloud Will Now Allow DJs To Directly Mix Its Tracks

While SoundCloud might not necessarily be the streaming platform on par with the likes of Spotify or Apple Music, the platform has managed to carve out a rather niche section of the market where it appeals to those who enjoy EDM, and for indie musicians and DJs who upload their own mixes to the platform.
Now it seems that the company is fully embracing its DJ users as they have announced a partnership with Native Instruments, Serato, Virtual DJ, DEX3, Mixvibes, and DJuced/Hercules. This partnership will basically allow users such as DJs to mix songs from SoundCloud directly into those apps in real-time. This means that DJs won’t need to find/download a copy of the song as they will be able to mix it live and directly from SoundCloud’s platform.
According to SoundCloud Chief Executive Officer Kerry Trainor, “Until recently, digital workflows for DJs were limited to downloads and physical media, but streaming workflows are the future. SoundCloud is committed to empowering creators with the best tools and resources to grow their careers, which is why we are excited to partner with these leading companies to help DJs take their workflow to the next level.”
That being said, Trainor does admit that these feature will not be replacing high-quality WAV files anytime soon. However he does claim that DJs who are looking for convenience can probably appreciate this feature more.
