OnePlus Delays Rollout Of Android 9.0 Pie Update For Its Phones

So we know that OnePlus has promised that they will be bringing the Android 9.0 Pie update to its eligible phones. Some devices have since received the update, but unfortunately for older devices like the OnePlus 3, 3T, 5, and 5T, it seems that the update has been delayed due to additional work that is needed to be done.

This news comes from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau who said that the company needs more time to work on the updates. Unfortunately he did not provide us with a timeline as to when the updates will be released, so owners of the devices mentioned above will just have to wait as there is no indication of whether this delay means it will be pushed to 2019, or if a very late 2018 release is still on the cards.

There was also no mention of what could have caused the delay, but that being said we suppose it’s better that the update get delayed, rather than it being released while it is filled with bugs and issues, which might be worse than waiting a few more months. The OnePlus 6T is expected to be officially announced at the end of October, and it is unclear if this delay could cause any issues with the handset’s software, or if it could be launched with Android 9.0 Pie preinstalled.

Google Lens Testing Image Import Feature

With Google Lens, all users have to do is point their camera at an object and the app will be able to recognize what it’s looking at, and will also be able to pull up relevant information about the object. But what if you wanted to analyze an image that was already stored on your phone? Turns out Google is testing a feature to let you do that.

According to a report from 9to5Google, it looks like some users are seeing a new feature in Google Lens where within the app, they have the option of importing an image file stored on their phone. Once the image has been imported, Google Lens will do what it does as if you captured the image live.

This feature comes in handy if you don’t have access to the object live, or if you’re trying to identify something you see in a photo. That being said, Google Photos already has Lens baked into it, but in case you don’t use Google Photos or if the Lens app is already open, this will provide users with an alternative.

It is unclear as to how widespread this rollout is, but it has been suggested that this is merely a test so if you don’t see the feature yet, don’t worry as we imagine that it will eventually find its way to all users.

Leaked iPad Pro Case Seemingly Confirms Face ID

When Apple introduced Touch ID on the iPhone, it didn’t take too long before we started seeing Touch ID on iPads as well. This is why when there were rumors of Face ID potentially making its way onto the iPad, it didn’t really come as a surprise as it was really only a matter of when, but could it come in the 2018 refresh?

That’s what the rumors seem to suggest, and now thanks to a leaked image of an iPad Pro case by UAG by the folks at MySmartPrice, it seems that those rumors could be true. The image shows the iPad Pro inside of the case. What’s interesting is that the render shows the iPad without its home button, and instead seems to feature the virtual home button that was introduced in the iPhone X. All of this seems to suggest that Face ID will indeed be a feature of the iPad Pro.

According to the rumors, Face ID on the iPad Pro will work in horizontal orientation. Also unlike the iPhone X, Xs, Xs Max, and XR, there will not be any notch as the bezels will still be thick enough to house the TrueDepth camera components. The render also seems to confirm an edge-to-edge display, and while we have heard rumors of a possible redesign, it’s hard to tell based on the render.

Apple is expected to take the wraps off the new iPad Pros later this month, but the company has yet to send out invites to any event, nor have they confirmed anything, so it still remains to be seen if we can expect new iPads this month.
