Instagram Testing Separate Tab For Older Posts

Back in July, Instagram launched a feature called “You’re All Caught Up” which is basically a digital wellness initiative where the idea is that once you’ve gone through all the new posts by the people you follow, you can put your phone away and not be tempted to keep scrolling. However despite rolling out such a feature, Instagram seems intent on putting out new features that could contradict it.

According to Android Police, it appears that Instagram is testing out a new UI for its app where users have the option of viewing their feed based on Instagram’s recommendations, and a separate tab where users can browse older posts. Like we said this seems to contradict the whole point of the digital wellness feature as it looks like it actively encourages users to check not only one feed, but two feeds.

That being said, this is only a test which means that there’s no guarantee that Instagram has plans to make it an actual feature. To be fair Instagram has been testing out a variety of things, more recently we’ve heard how the company is testing Story-like navigation for its feed, where instead of scrolling users can just tap left or right to go to the previous or next post. However like we said, none of these features have been implemented yet and are only in testing and seen by a handful of users, so there’s nothing to worry about just yet.

Google Adds EV Charging Station Info To Google Maps

Searching and locating a gas station on Google Maps is pretty easy. However as we’re seeing more car owners make the shift towards electric or plug-in hybrids, it means that instead of searching for gas stations, these drivers are now searching for EV charging stations instead, which at the moment aren’t quite as ubiquitous just yet.

However the good news is that if you use Google Maps, it seems that Google has made some changes in which the app will now be listing EV charging station info. “A quick search for keywords like ‘ev charging’ or ‘EV charging stations’ will display the nearest supported stations. To help you make a quick decision about which station to use, we’ll show you information about the business where the station is located, the types of ports available, charging speeds, and how many ports there are.”

These locations will come with features similar to reviews of locations on Google Maps, where users can find photos of the location, ratings, and also reviews of the place, along with questions and answers that are user-submitted. Google adds that business locations that have charging stations will also feature a link where it will provide more information about the chargers so drivers know whether or not they can charge their vehicles at those locations.

SpyFinder Pro Is A Device That Helps You Spot Hidden Cameras

In this day and age of Big Brother constantly monitoring us, it is understandable that some are worried about being spied on. For instance we have heard stories of how there are some who illegally install spy cameras in bathrooms, changing rooms, and hotel rooms, so that paranoia isn’t completely unfounded.

However there is good news and that comes in the form of the SpyFinder Pro. This is a device launched on Kickstarter that when used will help users locate/detect hidden cameras in the room. How does it work? All users have to do is turn it on, hold the device up to their eye, and turn their heads to scan the room.

As you scan the room, the six red LED strobe lights will be used to detect hidden cameras by bouncing the lights off camera lenses. This means that in the event you see a reflection blinking back at you, it means that there could be a camera hidden. The LED lights will offer three different intensity levels to help detect cameras that might be hidden under different surfaces, and it will work regardless of whether the hidden camera is on or off.

We can’t speak to the effectiveness of the SpyFinder Pro, but for those who are privacy-focused and would like to avoid any nasty surprises, it might be worth investing it given its portable nature which means that you can easily take it with you on holiday. Unfortunately the SpyFinder Pro does not come cheap with a Kickstarter price of $198 for a single unit.
