Google & Disney Team Up To Make Storytelling More Magical

One of the advantages that movies and TV shows have over reading books is that they’re usually accompanied by visual effects, sound effects, and background music that can help set the tone. However there are benefits to reading books too, and if you’re trying to encourage that habit, Google and Disney might have the solution.

Google and Disney have announced that they’ll be teaming up to enhance storytelling using Google Home, which will be used to help to provide sound effects and background music as you read. “Starting today, as you read select Little Golden Books aloud, Google Home will play relevant sound effects and music to bring the story to life. We partnered with Disney, one of the best storytellers in the world, to include family favorites like Moana and Coco.”

Google notes that when the feature has been activated, it will be able to tell if you’ve paused the story, which means that you’ll be able to pick up where you left off and the ambient sounds will do the same as well. Of course the featured books and titles will be somewhat limited at the start, which according to Google will include, Moana, Toy Story 3, Coco and Jack Jack Attack, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, The Three Little Pigs and Mickey Mouse and his Spaceship, and Mickey’s Christmas Carol.

It is an interesting albeit somewhat novel idea, but if you want to be known as the parent that can tell magical stories to their kids before bed, perhaps this could be worth checking out.

Floppotron Plays Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” aka The Funk of 40 Floppy Disks

If you are looking for a Halloween scare of the audio variety, check this out. You only have a day until the big holiday, so turn off the lights, turn up your volume, and put Paweł Zadrożniak’s latest work on loop. Yes, the famous Floppotron has a creepy electronic cover version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller waiting for you.

It’s not only spooky and creepy because of the song itself, but when you think about it, this is a collection of dead gadgets that are playing all of the instruments. Dead gadgets now have risen from the grave. Zombie gadgets not with a thirst for brains, but for power. That’s pretty scary when you really think about it.

Michael Jackson would surely approve. Perhaps it will make him rise from the dead to dance along. You never know what zombie technology is capable of. So if you see a zombie moonwalking this Halloween, you may want to look closer. Better yet don’t look closer. Just run. Run before he grabs his crotch and sings “Yooo-hoo”.

This could be the start of some very chilling real-life horror. Hey, it could happen. Anything can happen on Halloween night.

Bethesda Says Next Wolfenstein Title Will Come To The Switch As Well

We know that many gamers might have been disappointed when they found out that Fallout 76 will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Bethesda claims that it “wasn’t doable”, and while it is disappointing, let’s not forget that Bethesda has released quite a few titles for Nintendo’s platform such as Fallout Shelter, Skyrim, DOOM, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.

In fact gamers should take note that Bethesda has not forsaken the Switch despite Fallout 76 passing on the console. According to a report from GameXplain  (via VG247), Bethesda’s Pete Hines confirmed during PAX Australia that the next Wolfenstein title will be released on the Switch.

According to Hines, “That’s also why the next Wolfenstein is going to be out on Switch as well, and that’s why Doom Eternal was announced, and in that case, not just as a port but as something that – for the first time we’re building a game from scratch that really has the Switch in mind.”

The next Wolfenstein title, dubbed Young Blood, was announced earlier this year during E3 2018. There was no mention of which platforms the game will be launching on, but Hines’ comments more or less confirms that it will be launched on the Switch as one of the available platforms. There was also no mention of a specific release date save for 2019, so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
