Huawei Watch GT Smartwatch Launched

Huawei has been dabbling in smartwatches for the past few years, with 2017 bringing us the Huawei Watch 2. Now it looks like the company is back with a third iteration of its smartwatch in the form of the Huawei Watch GT, a watch that we’ve been hearing about for a while now based on various leaks and rumors, some of which have since been confirmed at Huawei’s event in London.

While there are plenty of smartwatches in the market, Huawei’s smartwatches have typically stood out from the rest by offering a somewhat more “mature” design. For those who want a watch that can be somewhat dressy but yet suitable for day-to-day, the Huawei Watch GT will no disappoint. It will feature the use of a ceramic bezel, a diamond-like coating on the glass, and will also sport a stainless steel case, with a 1.39-inch display.

It will also use an AMOLED screen with a 454 x 454 resolution, and it will be powered by a new dual chipset architecture. What does this mean? Basically there will be a lower-speed chip and a high-speed one. However thanks to the use of AI, the smartwatch will be able determine which sensor to use, thus helping users conserve battery when not-so-intense processing is required (this is similar in concept to the big.LITTLE architecture).

There will also be a brand new heart rate monitoring system dubbed the Huawei TruSeen 3.0 that uses a self-learning algorithm that will be able to collect better fitness data. There will also be the usual host of sensors that includes an accelerometer, gyroscope, a compass, GPS, an altimeter, and an air pressure sensor.

Huawei is also boasting that its smartwatch will feature 2 weeks of battery life with heart rate monitoring and up to 90 minutes of exercise per week. This is huge as battery life is a huge deal when it comes to choosing a smartwatch. That being said, the Huawei Watch GT will not run on Google’s Wear OS platform and will instead run on its own software.

This can be viewed as either a good or bad thing where a proprietary software means Huawei can do with it as they please. The downside is that it won’t have access to the plethora of apps that Wear OS has, but if you’re happy with what the watch does by itself, then maybe this isn’t that big of a deal.

New Alienware m15 Gaming Laptop Is Thin And Light

Dell’s gaming notebook series Alienware has finally come out with a thin and light gaming laptop. Many of its competitors from the likes of ASUS and Razer have all slimmed down and shed serious weight, coming in under five pounds. The Alienware m15 is catching up with slimmer bezels on its 15-inch display. The company is calling the m15 its “lightest and thinnest” laptop yet.

The Alienware m15 has a 15.6 inch display and can be configured with an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8300H or i7-8750H processor. There’s support for NVIDIA’s overclocked GTX 1060 GPU out of the box or the 1070 Max-Q.

The base model of this notebook ships with a 60Hz 1080p display but it would be possible to configure it with an up to 4K 60Hz display. The notebook also has support for up to 16GB of RAM and dual storage drives up to 1TB SSD/hybrid.

The Alienware m15 measures 14.3×10.8×0.83′ and weighs 4.78 lbs. The sleek design has a narrow side bezel to maximize screen space. Dell says that the bundled 60 Whr battery is good for 7.1 hours of video playback and that customers will be able to configure it with an optional 90 Whr battery as well.

Alienware’s latest gaming laptop will be available for purchase starting October 25th for $1,299.
