At some point in time, while using your browser to access a web page,  you might have encountered the error “JavScript Void 0”. You should note that Java and JavaScript aren’t the same. So, installing Java on your system will not help fix the problem.

The reason why you encounter this error is that something is blocking the JavaScript on the webpage on your end. And, if you can’t fix it from your end – there might be a JavaScript programming error on the webpage. You need to notify the website’s admin to solve the issue – there is nothing much you can do.

If you have encountered the error and looking for a fix, fret not, we have a couple of easy solutions. In addition to that, we will also let you know what JavaScript Void(0) refers to.

What is JavaScript Void(0)?

As Mozilla’s dev blog explains, void is a JavaScript operator. And, here’s what Void(0) does:

” This operator allows evaluating expressions that produce a value into places where an expression that evaluates to  undefined  is desired.

The  void operator is often used merely to obtain the  undefined  primitive value, usually using “void(0)” (which is equivalent to “void 0”). In these cases, the global variable  undefined  can be used instead (assuming it has not been assigned to a non-default value).”

In other words, when you click on a click – it does nothing. It’s just a URL placeholder for an action on a web page.

Fix 1: Ensure that you have JavaScript enabled (Google Chrome)

If you are a Google Chrome user, you need to check whether the JavaScript is being allowed to run on the webpage or not. To check that, click on the lock/globe icon to the extreme left of the address bar and then click on site settings:

After that, scroll down to see if you have allowed JavaScript to run:

Fix 2: Bypass cache and refresh the webpage

You need to simply refresh the webpage by bypassing the cached content. To do that, here are the keyboard shortcuts:

• For Windows-powered systems: Ctrl + F5
• For Mac-powered systems: Command + Shift + R

Fix 3: Clear cookies associated with the website

When you log in to a site (or simply visit a webpage), the cookies (or the text files) usually retain your session’s information. The status that you’re logged in, your likes, your preferences, and similar stuff that personalizes your experience on their website. And, it resides on your computer (browser’s folder).

So, you need to clear the cookies associated with that particular website (on which you are getting the error). We will show you how to do that (on Chrome):

1. Go to the Chrome’s settings.
2. Scroll down to the bottom to find the “Advanced” section and click on it to reveal more options.
   
3. Now, you will find numerous options under “Privacy and security“. Go to “Content settings“.
   
4. Here, click on “Cookies“.
5. Finally, click on “Select all cookies and site data“.
   
6. Now, you need to search for the cookie by entering the site URL in the search bar and delete whatever gets listed for it.

Fix 4: Disable all the extensions

No matter what browser you are utilizing, there can be extensions that could be causing the error.

So, to ensure that no browser extensions conflict with the website’s JavaScript, you need to disable every extension you have installed and then re-activate them one by one.

For Google Chrome, you just need to navigate your way through Customize & control Chrome (menu) -> More Tools -> Extensions. (as shown in the image below)

After following the options in the image above, you will need to disable the extensions:

On Firefox, you just need to head to the browser’s menu and then click on “Add-ons“.

Some users had an issue where Steam will not open on Windows 10. This can be terribly frustrating, but do not worry, in this article, we have compiled a few solid solutions that will help you launch Steam on Windows 10 without any issues.

Note: You should have the latest Steam client installed and not accessing it in offline mode for a long time.

Fix 1: End the process and re-launch

It is really the most simple fix that you can try when nothing happens upon launching Steam. Even I do encounter this issue very often. I try to launch Steam but nothing happens – the steam client runs as a process in the task manager but you do not see it open.

In that case, I simply head to the task manager (by pressing Alt + Ctrl + Del) and then searching for the process “Steam Client Bootstrapper” under the “Processes” tab. Just right-click on it and click on “End task” to close Steam.

Now, re-launch Steam, it should check for updates and start right away.

Fix 2: Clear cached data

Similar to how a browser stored cached content, Steam also contains cached data (specifically – cached download data). To clear the cache, simply press Windows + R to get into the run dialogue box and then type in the following command:

“steam://flushconfig”

Before clearing the cache, ensure that you have no games/software downloaded halfway, because you might need to re-download them from the start.

Of course, you cannot launch Steam – so to check what was being downloaded, navigate to the following location: Steam (your Steam Library) -> steamapps 

Now, right-click on the “downloading” folder to check the folder size in its properties. If it is empty, you do not have any downloads paused – but if it shows a certain file size (say, 5 Gigs) – you have a download to finish.

You can back up that folder and copy it back after clearing the cache. However, we cannot be sure that it would always resume where you paused the download before clearing the cache.

Fix 3: Re-install Steam

It is not a rocket science to realize that you need to re-install the Steam client again to launch it without any issues. When you uninstall the Steam client, you will lose all your games and data with it.

So, in order to back up your games, head to your Steam Library folder on your computer and then make a copy of “steamapps” folder in another location.

Once you re-install Steam, simply replace the new “steamapps” folder with the old one which you kept a back up of.

Wrapping Up

In most of the cases, you do not really need to re-install Steam, but if nothing else works, make sure to keep a backup of your games and then re-install the Steam client to resolve any type of errors.

The Salto-1P Robot is a small monopedal robot that looks happy as heel as it jumps for joy. It’s either happy or crazy; I’m not sure which. It is capable of continuous high-power hopping and it takes that job seriously.

The video here demonstrates a new control algorithm that can land Salto-1P’s foot at precise locations on the ground like jumping on stepping stones or playing one-legged hopscotch. It’s pretty impressive stuff. I can imagine a tiny robot like this relentlessly hopping after you and never ever giving up until it catches you. And then, of course, it will probably hop into your chest, stabbing you, as it hop-stabs you over and over again.

In fact, put a knife foot on this thing and let it play five-finger-fillet with your hand. This little crazy ‘bot is frightening on so many levels. It just seems so happy, but is soooo creepy. Stuff like this makes me fear for our world. If you pay attention to the beginning of the video it says, “This work is supported by Army Research Office Grant…” Oh man. This thing is obviously designed to kill. Hop and kill. Then hop and kill some more. Oh man.
