Today Google announced they’d close Google+ for consumers – that means you, reader. This closure is due to several factors, the most important of these being the huge privacy bug uncovered this week by the Wall Street Journal. Other reasons aren’t nearly as important – but they’re there nonetheless. Besides the bug, Google+ never really got off the ground. Though … Continue reading

Microsoft has announced its Xbox game streaming service today titled Project xCloud. It will be capable of streaming Xbox games to consoles, PCs, and mobile devices. Microsoft has said that scaling and building out the service is a “multi-year” project for the company and that it will begin public trials of Project xCloud in 2019 so that “we can learn and scale with different volumes and locations,” according to Microsoft’s cloud gaming boss Kareen Choudhry.
Project xCloud will be compatible with existing and future Xbox games as it’s powered by custom hardware that Microsoft has built for its datacenters. It architected a new customizable blade which hosts component parts of multiple Xbox One consoles in addition to associated supporting infrastructure.
It has been testing Project xCloud internally and it runs on mobile phones and tablets paired with an Xbox Wirless Controller through Bluetooth. Games are also playable using touch input. A new game-specific touch input overlay is being developed for maximum response in minimal footprint for those who want to play without a controller.
The team at Microsoft Research is working on ways to reduce latency through improvements in networking topology, video encoding and decoding. Project xCloud will make it possible to stream games on 4G networks and the test experience is currently running at 10 megabits per second. More details about the service will be revealed once public trials begin next year.

The Oscar winner threw shade at the newly confirmed Supreme Court associate justice’s alleged drinking habits.
Cats are aliens. Come on, we all know it. They’re not fooling anyone with that cutesy act they put on. Not only are they from another planet, but they have obviously been sent here to spy on us. We don’t really mind though because they are adorbs. You might as well give them some space-age cat furniture for them to spy from. MYZOO Spaceship Cat Beds are perfect. Ground control to Major Tom… cat.
Your feline friends will feel right at home. MYZOO offers unique cat rest areas that are worthy of space travelers because they look like a spaceship. They come in models that have either one or two acrylic bubbles, so your kitty can enjoy a nice view. There are also holes for air circulation too. The first model is called Gamma for the wall and the second model is Alpha, a floor-standing model. Gamma has a single bubble, while Alpha has two.
There’s also a third model called Beta, which is a floor/tabletop version of Gamma. Each MYZOO Spaceship model comes in a birch or walnut finish. You can find the Alpha and Gamma from Amazon for $135 and $170, respectively. Oh, there’s also a matching spaceship food bowl. My cat already wants the full set.

Posted in: Today's ChiliFacebook announced its new Portal hardware today, a limited-purpose device that allows users to video chat on Facebook almost exclusively. Titanfall 2 players will be familiar with “Mixtape matchmaking.” It’s basically a type of playlist preferencing which will now be seen in another beloved title, Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The game’s community manager has confirmed that this feature is being added as it has been frequently requested by the community.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection recently received a substantial update. It was the largest since the game was released in November 2014. It received Xbox One X enhancements for all four titles in addition to the Halo 3: ODST campaign.
343 Industries community director Brian Jarrard has confirmed over Twitter that he has seen a work-in-progress of “a ‘mix tape’ style feature for MCC matchmaking.” He later followed it up with an off-screen shot of the title’s Match Composer screen. He has also provided further information about the various options of this feature.
Those who own Halo: The Master Chief Collection will certainly get good mileage out of this feature as the collection features four different games from the Halos series. Players have been asking for this feature for quite some time now so they will be happy that their requests have been heard. This feature is currently in development for the title so it may be a while before it’s released.
