Pizza Hut & Toyota Unveil Concept Hydrogen Truck With A Robot Kitchen

Food delivery services have always been pretty popular, and this is made even more so these days thanks to technology where there are apps that let us order food. However the more food deliveries we request, the more transportation is involved, in which turn is probably not too good for the environment.

This is why Pizza Hut and Toyota have teamed up to unveil a concept truck that runs on hydrogen dubbed the Tundra PIE Pro. The concept of a green pizza delivery truck sounds pretty interesting already, but to make it more interesting, the Tundra PIE Pro will actually come with a robot kitchen at its back, where robotic arms will help assemble pizzas while on the go.

It has been estimated that this could take as little as 6-7 minutes, meaning that in theory your pizzas should arrive at your doorstep when they’re right out of the oven which is pretty much as fresh as it gets. According to Marianne Radley, Chief Brand Officer, Pizza Hut, “Nothing tastes better than a fresh Pizza Hut pizza straight out of the oven. The Tundra PIE Pro brings to life our passion for innovation not just on our menu but in digital and delivery in order to provide the best possible customer experience.”

That being said, the Tundra PIE Pro is merely a concept as we imagine that putting together a fleet of these trucks could prove to be rather costly. Pizza Hut is also not alone in trying to make themselves greener. Courier services such as UPS are also exploring the use of electric trucks to help make their operations more environmentally-friendly.

Fortnite Installed On Nearly Half Of All Nintendo Switch Systems

Fortnite’s popularity has been pretty much established, aided by the fact that the game is pretty much playable on every conceivable platform out there, such as computers, phones, tablets, and consoles. In fact according to Nintendo, they claim that Fortnite has been downloaded and installed on nearly half of Nintendo Switch systems worldwide.

Given that last we heard, the Nintendo Switch sold nearly 23 million units worldwide to date (which also meant it surpassed the GameCube’s lifetime sales), this roughly translates to about 11.5 million Switch units out there that has the game installed. Of course exactly how many players are actually playing is a different story, but it is still pretty impressive all the same.

IGN points out how this attach rate is impressive for a third-party game, especially since it means that the game can be found on installed on every other Switch unit around the world. There is also a good reason for Nintendo to be sharing such details. This is because Fortnite itself is a free game, but its developers have been making a ton of money due to in-game purchases which we imagine that Nintendo is probably taking a cut of.

We’re not sure how much money the game is making on the Nintendo Switch, but last we heard, it was making roughly $2 million a day on iOS devices.

Samsung To Bolster Its Mobile Division With Foldable & 5G Smartphones

If we were to look at the market say 4-5 years ago, companies such as Apple and Samsung were at the top of their game when it came to smartphones. However now the market is flooded with more Chinese companies offering cheaper and more value for money purchases, things definitely aren’t the way they used to before.

In fact it wasn’t too long ago that Huawei dethroned Apple to become the second-largest smartphone maker in the world. That being said, Samsung also seems to have taken a hit in recent times, where according to the company’s latest financials, its mobile division is sai to have brought in a consolidated revenue of around $22 billion, but its Q3 profits were only roughly $1.9 billion.

The company has attributed this to a decrease in sales of its low and mid-range handsets, and also an increase in marketing costs. However the company does have a plan on how they might turn things around, and that is by launching its foldable phone and also 5G compatible handsets. “Moreover, Samsung will strengthen its competitiveness in the mid- to long-term by leading innovation with the launch of foldable and 5G smartphones as well as enhancing its Bixby-based AI and IoT services.”

We know that Samsung is planning on showing off its foldable smartphone next month at the Samsung Developer Conference, although it might only be in Q2 2019 that the handset might actually go on sale. That being said, the jury is still out with regards to foldable handsets, but Samsung seems to think that they might have something special on their hands.
