Google’s Digital Wellbeing Now Available On Pixel & Android One Devices

For companies such as Google and Facebook, the more we use their products, the better it is for them as it means more time spent on their platform, which means more exposure to ads. However spending too much time with our devices can be bad for our health, which is also why companies such as Google and Facebook have introduced digital wellbeing initiatives.

Google’s digital wellbeing initiative was initially announced at I/O earlier this year, and was available as a beta back in August. The good news is that if such management features are of interest to you, then you might be pleased to learn that the app is now out of beta and is available to users of Pixel and Android One devices that are running on Android 9.0 Pie.

If you’ve ever seen Apple’s Screen Time feature in action, then Google’s digital wellbeing feature is more or less the same. It will provide users with information that lets them know how long they’ve spent on their device and which apps that they might be using the most. It also lets them manage notifications to help reduce distractions/interruptions, and also set time limits on how long you spend on apps per day.

Interestingly enough this isn’t Google’s first attempt at digital wellbeing, where earlier this year Google actually rolled out a similar feature to YouTube that let users know how long they’ve spent on the platform. Of course whether or not this will successfully help users cut down how much time they spend on their phones remains to be seen, but at the very least it draws attention to it.

Development On Kingdom Hearts 3 Has Been Officially Completed

Square Enix had previously announced that they would be launching Kingdom Hearts 3 in January 2019, which means that development of the game had better be complete before then given that the company has pretty much only a couple of months left, not to mention there probably needs some tests to work out additional kinks and bugs.

The good news is that the game has officially been completed, according to a tweet by the game’s official Twitter account which quotes the game’s producer, Tetsuya Nomura, as saying, “I’m proud to unveil an extended version of the trailer that’s been playing in NA cinemas. And guess what? We’ve wrapped up development of #KingdomHearts III!”

Kingdom Hearts 3 marks the third main installment in the franchise and it is also expected to wrap up the storyline. We doubt that this is the end of the franchise given its popularity, so we imagine that there’ll probably be more Kingdom Heart titles we can expect in the future, although when exactly is anyone’s guess.

There is also additional good news to the wrapping up of the game’s development. Nomura had stated in the past that they were focusing on completing Kingdom Hearts 3 before they moved on to the Final Fantasy VII Remake, so now that the game is done, hopefully this means we’ll hear more Final Fantasy VII Remake progress reports in the near future.

This Casio G-Shock Watch Transforms into Optimus Prime

Japanese toy maker Takara Tomy has teamed up with Casio to make a very cool watch and watch holder combo. Casio Japan has introduced this special edition G-Shock x Transformers DW-6900TF and it is amazing. This set is being released to celebrate 35 years of G-Shock and the 35th anniversary of Transformers in 2019.

You get a watch with Optimus Prime’s color scheme of red and blue, along with a transformable Optimus Prime figure that doubles as a watch holder. I mean, just look at how cool this thing is. The watch displays in either “pedestal” mode or in robot form. Or you can wear it. The G-Shock 5600 or 6900 also fits in the watch holder too.

The G-Shock x Transformers DW-6900TF-SET will be officially available on December 8, 2018 for 29,000 yen before tax (~$257 USD). I’m hoping they offer some other Transformers watch sets as well. This one is really damn cool. I wouldn’t mind having a few of these lined up on my desk.

The bad news? Well, sadly this is a Japan-only deal. I know. I’m depressed too. Why do they always get me so excited and then pull the Japan-exclusive crap on me? It’s so mean. It’s abuse really. America deserves this too you know.
