We’re now privy to a so-called Google Pixel 3 Lite thanks to a series of photos shared this week by a leakster in Russia. If this device is, indeed, what it’s reported to be, it’s more than a little bit welcome in my pocket. This is because not ONLY does it have a rectangular display, and a back-facing camera that … Continue reading
Microsoft, we’re sorry to say, is back at it again with its intrusive Windows 10 ideas. This time around, Microsoft has decided to start testing ads within the Windows 10 mail app. While it isn’t exactly surprising to see Microsoft do this, we can’t imagine that Mail users will be all too happy seeing these new ads. Though the feature … Continue reading
Sometimes words aren’t enough, and that’s where emojis come in. But even then, there are times you just can’t find the perfect little pictograph that encapsulates your exact mood. Even the slightly more expressive kaomoji can fail you when you need them most.

Multi-SIM phones are all fine and dandy, but they have their limits: you rarely get more than two lines, and they may be overkill if you just want a new set of digits rather than a wholly separate connection. Verizon (Engadget’s parent company) thin…
If there is still a reason why people aren’t as quick to adopt a smartwatch is because of battery life. When you consider the fact that traditional timepieces need a change of battery maybe once every few years (some models are self-charging), the idea that you can only use your smartwatch for 1-2 days before it dies is a bit off-putting.
That being said, smartwatch battery life has come a long way since the early days, and Google is doing their part in improving on that. The company has recently announced the latest update to its Wear OS platform called “H” in which one of the focuses of the update is to the battery saver mode of the operating system.
According to Google, “This update extends your battery life even further by turning on Battery Saver to only display the time once your battery falls below 10%.” There will also be improved off-body efficiency, where when it detects that you are no longer wearing the watch (after 30 minutes), it will go into a deep sleep.
There will also be other features such as smart app resume that lets you pick up where you left off on your watch apps, and a two-step power off function that lets you turn off your Wear OS smartwatch quickly and easily. The update has yet to be released and according to Google, this should take place over the next few months.

One of the ways handset manufacturers differentiate themselves from the competition is by skinning the UI of their phones to look different. In some cases, such as Samsung, themes are also offered which allows for further customization, but unfortunately for Samsung owners it looks like free themes will be coming to an end, sort of.
In a notice that Samsung is sending to users of Samsung Themes, the company is notifying them that free themes will now be limited to 14-days of use. This means that even if a theme is made free by its creator, users only have 14 days to enjoy it, after which it revert back to the default Touchwiz theme.
Samsung offers themes in both free and paid versions, so it is unclear why they are now limiting free themes to 14-days. It has been speculated that maybe Samsung is trying to force users to purchase paid themes so that they can get a cut of those proceeds, but then again we’re not sure how many users pay for themes to begin with to determine if this might actually make financial sense.
That being said, Samsung isn’t the only company to offer themes to its mobile users, although some companies such as Sony have ultimately decided that there aren’t enough users to justify keeping it around.
