Potential Samsung Galaxy S10 Designs Revealed

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S10 in 2019. In terms of specs, it’s not hard to guess that it will be outfitted with the latest Exynos chipset for some markets, and also the latest Qualcomm chipset for other markets. It will also most like pack anywhere between 6-8GB of RAM, and will also probably come with a dual (or triple) rear-facing camera setup.

Those are some of the more “obvious” specs we can expect, but what about design? It seems that the folks at LetsGoDigital (via PhoneArena) might have an idea of what the device could look like, thanks to them unearthing a patent that was filed for by Samsung. As you can see in the render above, it seems to suggest that we could be looking at a “true” edge-to-edge display, where instead of a notch that so many people seem to dislike, Samsung has opted for a small circular cutout in the top left corner of the phone.

What this also seems to suggest is that for the first time in a while, Samsung might actually not offer curved edges for its Galaxy S phones. The design kicked off several generations ago before it eventually became a staple feature in all of Samsung’s flagships, but if these renders and patent designs are accurate, Samsung could be headed in another direction for the Galaxy S10.

In any case it’s probably a good idea to take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have more details in the coming months.

Nintendo Explains Why They’re Still Keeping The 3DS Around

With the Nintendo Switch offering up a bigger display and more powerful hardware, it made sense that many believed that the Switch was designed to replace not just the Wii U, but also potentially the 3DS due to the fact that it could be taken around just as easily as it could be plugged into a TV.

However Nintendo has continued to maintain its 3DS lineup of hardware and also games, and recently in an interview with Kotaku, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime explained why they are continuing to keep the 3DS around, suggesting that it was a more affordable device compared to the Switch, and that it would appeal to the younger crowd.

“However, there are a lot of five, six, seven-year olds who have an opportunity to have their first gaming device and to have a fantastic gaming experience. And that’s what our dedicated handheld business is for, both the 2DS and the 3DS.” Fils-Aime’s comments were in response to how some Switch fans are allegedly frustrated at how there are 3DS-only releases.

However Fils-Aime stressed that the company’s focus is very much on the Switch and pointed out how they’re making a new title under the Luigi’s Mansion franchise for the Switch. “Well, we want the newest experience to be on Switch. That’s why the upcoming Luigi’s Mansion game is going to be a fantastic experience.”
