Sharp made a double-notch phone – but for a great reason

Sharp heard you complaining about smartphone display notches and clearly decided to really give you something to moan about, with the new Sharp Aquos R2 Compact having not one but two of the screen cut-outs. Luna Turns Your iPad Pro Into A Display For The Mac Mini

One of the upsides of the Mac Mini is that it is small and portable which means that placing it anywhere in your home is possible, as long as you have a display that you can attach to it (along with a keyboard and mouse). However if you’d rather not get a separate display, it seems that the folks at Luna Display have stumbled upon a pretty cool alternative.

For those who are unfamiliar, Luna Display is one of the options that MacBook users have when it comes to extending the display of their computers to an iPad. Now it seems that the company has discovered that using their technology, they were able to pair the new Mac Mini with the new iPad Pro, transforming it into a weird computer/terminal of sorts with a touch-enabled display.

The best part about this setup is that users can alternate between iOS and macOS. “When you launch Luna, you’re running your macOS on your iPad; and when you close out of the Luna app, you have a regular iPad Pro again. It’s strange and exciting all at the same time, but once you settle into your workflow, it makes you wonder why this hasn’t been an obvious product pairing for Apple all along.”

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, the Luna Display dongle is priced at $80 and is available in USB-C or Mini DisplayPort connector options. It is a good sight cheaper than buying a new monitor, especially if you already have an iPad/iPad Pro lying around. If you’re interested in piecing this setup together, they have posted a series of instructions on their website on how to go about doing just that.

Apple Partners With Movie Studio For A Series Of Films

For the longest time ever, as far as offering entertainment is concerned, Apple pretty much relied on its iTunes platform where they sold music and movies to customers. However in recent times, Apple seems to be stepping up their efforts at creating original shows, and now it looks like they’ll be taking it further with movies.

In a report from Variety, it appears that Apple has entered into a partnership with movie studio A24 (who were behind movies such as “Moonlight”, “Room”, “The Witch”, and “Ex Machina”). Details about the deal are scarce, but it is said to be a multiyear agreement that will most likely result in multiple films being created for Apple and distributed by the company’s yet-to-be-announced platform.

So far Apple’s efforts seem to be focused on TV shows, so this partnership will mark a huge push into the movies for the company. At the moment Apple has yet to announce how they plan on going about distributing their content. Some reports claim that the company might actually give content away for free for those who purchase their products, although how they plan on monetizing that remains to be seen.

There is also no word on when we might be able to expect this new service to be launched (some say the first half of 2019), but from what we can tell, Apple has been pretty busy putting together a catalogue of shows and movies ahead of the service’s launch.
