Self-Driving Mercedes S-Class Taxi Service Launches In San Jose Next Year

It was confirmed by Mercedes-Benz’s parent company Daimler and Bosch back in July that they would be launching a pilot program for their robo-taxi service in Silicon Valley next year. Some additional details have been confirmed about the service. Its fleet will consist of luxurious self-driving Mercedes-Benz S class vehicles and the service will be launched in San Jose, California in the second half of 2019.

Daimler and Bosch have long collaborated on innovative technologies that have brought new safety features to cars. They have worked together on technologies such as adaptive cruise control, stability control, and anti-lock brakes. It really didn’t come as a surprise when the two companies announced in April last year that they will be working on developing automated driving systems.

For this robo-taxi service, Daimler is looking after vehicle integration while Bosch is developing the compute platform which will power the autonomous driving system. The ride-hailing app for this service will be developed by Daimler Mobility Services. The service will be connected into other mobility services such as the Car2go carsharing service and the Moovel multi-model platform.

We will see just how good of a job the companies have done when their pilot program launches in San Jose next year. The Mercedes-Benz S class sedans will have over 40 sensors which will enable the car to drive itself.

Super Mario 3 Holiday Wreath: The 8-Bit Days of Christmas

Celebrate the holidays in classic video game style. This Nintendo Light-Up Wreath has a Super Mario Bros 3 theme that combines one of the coolest video games ever with our favorite holiday. The pixel art wreath has power-ups and five green LEDs that blink intermittently in the center of the donut blocks. I

It looks awesome and very festive. Sadly, it doesn’t play any music, but what are you gonna do? Some 8-bit holiday songs would have sweet. At least it looks amazing. It lets those on the outside of your house know that there’s a Mario fan inside. Santa will see this from a mile away as he flies by in his sleigh, and he’ll make a special stop at your place with extra gifts because he’s a big Mario fan too.

This is perfect for the kind of person that leaves a powered-up NES on for Santa instead of milk and cookies. And you know what cartridge is inserted. If Santa gets distracted from all of his other stops, that’s on him. You gotta complete those levels. Hey, if he can’t deliver, maybe you get to keep all of the gifts. Sweet!

There’s a new PS4 Pro and it’s much quieter than the original

There’s a new Sony PS4 Pro and it’s much quieter than the original. Right now, it’s only available in a Red Dead Redemption bundle, but eventually, it will likely be available as a standalone product, too.

The new CUH-7200 version reportedly dropped the console’s noise from 50 decibels to 44 decibels, though, as EuroGamer notes, it can still top out at 48 decibels. The noise reduction is reportedly thanks to improved cooling, which in turn, reduces the strain on the cooling system within the PS4 Pro. The original PlayStation Pro came out two years ago, and at times, it can roar like a jet engine.

The revised model looks the same as the original, so check the model number on the box to ensure you’re getting the quieter option.

Xiaomi Expands International Presence With Mi 8 Pro UK Launch

Xiaomi has largely focused on markets in Asia. The company’s strategy of aggressively pricing its devices has paid dividends as it has been one of the fastest growing smartphone vendors on the planet. Xiaomi is now focusing on expanding its international presence and it has taken a big step today by launching in the United Kingdom. The Mi 8 Pro is its first flagship device for the UK.

Xiaomi got its foot in the door in Europe last year when it officially launched its products in Spain. It has since expanded to France and Italy earlier this year. It’s now heading to the United Kingdom. The company has not only launched its Mi 8 Pro flagship smartphone in the country, it has also launched an authorized Mi Store in London’s Westfield shopping center.

The Mi 8 Pro flagship will be accompanied by the Mi 8 Lite in the United Kingdom. Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be launching other products in the country as well. They will include its smart devices, accessories, and even backpacks.

This flagship smartphone from Xiaomi has a 6.21 inch 2248×1080 pixel resolution display. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. UK carrier Three will be offering its smartphones to customers.

Xiaomi hasn’t launched its products in the United States as yet. It has a teaser event planned for December 8th in New York City and Xiaomi has previously said that it remains committed to expanding to the U.S. in the future.

8BitDo GBros. Wireless Adapter Brings GameCube Control to the Switch

The Nintendo Switch has interesting controllers in the form of the Joy-Cons and the Switch Pro. For games like the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter, launching December 7, some gamers will want a controller with a classic feel. 8BitDo has a new wireless adapter that is called the GBros. wireless adapter that lets you use your good old GameCube controller with your Switch.

The adapter will also work with controllers from the NES Classic and SNES Classic, as well as the Wii Classic Controller if you have those lying around. The adapter has home and screenshot buttons on it and connects to the Switch via Bluetooth.

One potential catch is that the adapter connects to the classic controllers via a short cable that might get in the way for some users. The GBros. wireless adapter ships on December 7, the same day that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches, and costs $19.99. It should be available for pre-order on Amazon any day now.
