Square Enix Considering Development Of Compilation Of Final Fantasy VII Titles

It has been three years since Square Enix announced and confirmed that they would be remaking Final Fantasy VII, an announcement which the company admits might have come too early. The good news is that while we know for a fact that a remake is in the works, it seems that Square Enix could be considering other Final Fantasy VII titles as well.

According to a report from Famitsu (via Gematsu), the game’s producer Tetsuya Nomura revealed at a closed event for The World Ends with You: Final Remix that they might consider the development of titles from the “Compilation of Final Fantasy VII”. This was in response to a fan who expressed their wish to be able to play Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII again.

Nomura was quoted as saying, “Right now I’m concentrating on Kingdom Hearts III, but when that’s finished, VII will be where I head next. I’m thinking about ideas regarding the remake’s release—I even spoke to producer Kitase about it today. All of us old-timers are considering various developments in regards to what accompanies the remake. Like if we can manage to do something about the Compilation [of Final Fantasy VII] titles too. But for the time being, please wait for VII‘s turn to come.”

At this point in time there is still no word on when the remake will be released. We have seen some screenshots but that’s about it so far. However as Nomura rightfully points out, his focus is on Kingdom Hearts III which is due for a release in 2019, so we imagine it’ll probably be after that that we’ll learn more about the Final Fantasy VII remake.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ‘World Of Light’ Trailer Released

Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. franchise has been mostly a multiplayer affair, where players duke it out against each other to try and emerge the winner. However with the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo seems to be trying a different tactic and will be introducing a “World of Light” adventure mode to the game.

The trailer above shows the entire Smash Bros. roster banding together to fight off the invasion of Hands, but they seem to all get defeated, save for Kirby who seems to be the only one who survives. From what we can tell, clones of the Smash Bros. roster are created with evil spirits entering those bodies to control them, and presumably you will have to defeat all of them to restore everyone back to the way they were.

At its core despite it being a story/adventure mode, it still retains the Smash Bros. mechanics, where players will have to fight against the CPU in battles along the way. As you defeat them, it seems that you rescue your friends in the process, which ultimately should allow you to unlock the entire roster, or at least most of it. It looks like it could be fun and a change of pace for those who don’t necessarily want to play against other players or who might want a break from competitive multiplayer.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently set for a release on the 7th of December for the Nintendo Switch.
