Cadillac Car Subscription Service Being Shut Down

General Motors’ Cadillac car subscription service costs $1,800 per month and according to a new report, it will be shut down before the end of this year. Called The Book by Cadillac, it was launched last year and allows subscribers to drive different Cadillac models every month for $1,800. It sounded like a pretty good deal for Cadillac fans who wanted to drive different models every month.

Cadillac has also confirmed that the service is being shut down next month. The company added that the service isn’t going away for good and that it would be relaunched at a later date.

“Cadillac will temporarily pause the BOOK by Cadillac program effective December 1, 2018,” the company said in a statement, adding that “Additional details will be made available at a later date.” The service was launched as a pilot program and it has provided Cadillac with insights that will contribute to how it shapes the Book by Cadillac strategy going forward.

Existing subscribers will now have 30 days to return the cars in their use after they’re notified of the service being shut down. One of the reasons mentioned in the report about the closure was that the company was finding it too expensive to deliver multiple cars to subscribers monthly.
