Hyper’s USB-C Hub Attaches To The MacBook’s Adapter

The problem with Apple’s MacBook laptops is the ports, in which Apple has pretty much done away with USB-A ports in favor of USB-C, including the recently launched MacBook Air which was one of the last few MacBooks that still had USB-A ports. This means that you’ll need to start living the dongle life if you’re trying to charge devices using a USB-A cable.

For those who hate the idea of dongles, you might be interested to learn that Hyper has recently launched a new USB-C hub that attaches to your MacBook’s charging adapter. As you can see in the image above, this is a hub that sits on top of your charging adapter in which it gives the charging adapter a USB-C port and two USB 3.0 ports.

This means that you can plug in devices that use USB-A to charge directly to the power brick which we magine should let it charge faster than plugging it to your computer. Also it seems that this will work for external hard drives and flash drives, where plugging it in will let you access files on those devices on your computer.

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, Hyper will be selling the device for $40 for the 13-inch MacBook version, or $50 for the 15-inch MacBook version.

GoPro shares tank after reporting revenue dives 13%

GoPro stock is currently down 15 percent in after-hours trading and is falling after reporting its third quarter earnings. The company saw revenues dive 13.3 percent while still managing to beat Wall Street revenue expectations.

Overall GoPro reported a net loss of $27.1 million, or 19 cents per share, in the quarter that ended on September 30, compared with a profit of $14.7 million, or 10 cents per share, from the previous year. Likewise, GoPro saw revenue fall to $285.9 million from $329.8 million, down 13 percent year-over-year and up 1 percent sequentially. Cash and investments totaled $148 million at the end of Q3 2018.

Earlier in the day, the company’s stock was up 9.3 percent on the day. It was rebounding nicely after ending last week down, but all the gains could be lost if it opens tomorrow at today’s after-hours level.

The third quarter noted some successes though. The new Hero7 Black saw the company’s best first-month sales of any unit. Likewise, GoPro’s spherical camera, the Fusion, holds 47 percent dollar share of its niche market. The company’s products are gaining popularity in oversea markets, too. In Europe, Japan and Korea, the company increased its unit and dollar market share substantially. In the U.S., GoPro still holds a massive chunk of the dollar and unit share, 96 percent and 87 percent, respectively. And for the 19th straight quarter, GoPro is the No. 1 selling camera by unit volume in North America.

The company is also still growing its social channels, reaching a 21-month high in September.

GoPro recently revamped its camera line up in time for the holiday quarter. Yet GoPro is still struggling, at least seemingly, at convincing owners to buy another unit. While GoPro annually releases the latest and greatest action camera, most owners I’ve talked to are satisfied with the capabilities of the GoPro they purchased previously.

‘Amazon Day’ Lets Prime Customers Choose Their Delivery Days

An Amazon Prime subscription is worth it if you shop on Amazon’s platform regularly, where you’ll get access to faster and free shipping. However the problem is that sometimes you might not always be at home to receive your packages, and short of using Amazon Key where Amazon delivers directly inside your home, there weren’t many options available when it comes to choosing your delivery times.

The good news is that according to CNET, Amazon has since launched what they are calling “Amazon Day”. This is a new delivery option for Prime members in the US where according to Amazon, this allows customers to pick a specific day of the week for their shipments to arrive. This means that if you know that you’ll be home on a Tuesday, you can pick that day and the delivery should arrive on that day itself.

This means that users can also collate all their purchases made during that week into a single day of shipping, which in turn helps to reduce the amount of boxes/packaging needed since they’ll be combined, and also lets you schedule deliveries to suit your time, like if you have certain days during the week that you’ll know you or someone else will be at home.

In a statement made to CNET, Amazon spokeswoman Kristen Kish said, “We’re excited to be testing a new service aimed at making the delivery experience more convenient for customers.” Note that this new delivery option is still in the invite-only phase so not all Prime customers will see it yet, also the regular one-day, two-day, or no-rush shipping options will still be available in addition to Amazon Day.
