BioWare’s Anthem is less than a month away, but before then players will get a taste of the shared-world shooter thanks to a pre-release demo. This being EA, however, the timings are a tad complicated.
Sony α6400 mirrorless camera
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhen it comes to mirrorless cameras, there are many different kinds of models to choose from with various manufacturers touting their wares. Sony too, has its fair share of champions with the Sony α6400 mirrorless camera being one of the latest additions to the family that will bring with it a slew of Sony’s most advanced technologies in the body of a compact, lightweight APS-C camera.
Make no mistake about it, the Sony α6400 will be a speedy little one, where it lays claim to having the world’s fastest autofocus (AF) acquisition of 0.02 seconds. In addition, it also has a new advanced Real-time Eye AF and real-time tracking capabilities. To impress the masses further, the Sony α6400 comes with high-speed shooting at up to 11 fps with AF/AE tracking, a new-generation BIONZ X image processing engine which will be able to produce excellent image quality, 4K video recording, and a fully 180-degree tiltable LCD touch screen among others.
It also boasts of 425 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection AF points which have been strategically placed over the entire image area, where it will cover approximately 84 percent of the image area. Spicing things up would be the Real-time Eye AF, which will make use of artificial intelligence based object recognition in order to detect and process eye data in real time. This results in vastly improved accuracy, speed and tracking performance of Eye AF. When you are in the autofocus mode, the camera is able to automatically detect the eyes of the subject, where it can even choose to concentrate on the preferred eye (left or right) of the subject as the focus point.
Keeping the Sony α6400 company would be a slew of image processing algorithms from Sony’s newest full-frame cameras, which further suppresses noise while preserving resolution and improving texture depiction. Expect the Sony α6400 to ship in February 2019 for a recommended retail price of $900 apiece.

Nokia 5 (2017) Receives Android 9 Pie Update
Posted in: Uncategorized
HMD Global launched the Nokia 5 back in 2017. The affordable device was well received as it had decent specs for its price segment. The handset launched with Nougat on board and has since been updated to Android 8.0 and Android 8.1 Oreo. It’s now receiving the Android 9 Pie update. This will most likely be the last major Android platform update for this device.
Juho Sarvikas, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, confirmed on Twitter today that the company has started rolling out the Android 9 Pie update for the Nokia 5 (2017). The update is rolling out over-the-air so it may take a couple of days before it becomes available for everyone.
It’s interesting to note that this device was released before HMD Global released a handful of Android One devices that are promised swift updates. This probably doesn’t sit well with Nokia 5.1 owners, since it’s an Android One device and yet it’s currently on Android Oreo. It should receive the Android 9 update at some point later in this quarter.
The Nokia 5 (2017) is a bonafide mid-range smartphone with its 5.2 inch display, Snapdragon 430 processor, and 2GB RAM. If you picked one up over the years, rejoice, as you will now get the latest Android OS experience on this device.
It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Nokia 5 (2017) has just been updated to Android 9 Pie! Nokia Phones truly get better over time! pic.twitter.com/HbwKxilXc8

I have played a lot of video games in my day, and none have made me rage quit as much as The Oregon Trail did back in elementary school. It was impossible to not die from dysentery. Not one single kid in my school ever survived literally shitting themselves to death in that bastard of a game.
If you feel like dying of dysentery anywhere you may be, consider the The Oregon Trail handheld game. Usually, the game is about $25, which is more than I am willing to pay for being frustrated. However, Target has the game on sale right now for $10. That’s about a cheap as digital dysentery will get.
Pick one up while the sale lasts. If you win, be sure you brag on your favorite social media.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 is slowly being revealed through unofficial means. Several leaks have revealed key details and the latest report is the most detailed yet. According to All About Samsung, the upcoming Samsung flagship will have tiny bezels, front-facing cameras that poke through the display, a USB-C port and a headphone jack.
This report meshes with past leaks. There could be three variations of the phone: the S10, S10+ and a new version called the S10E. It’s been reported that Samsung will position the S10 as the main model with the S10+ being the large screen model (and the only with dual-front facing cameras). The S10E will likely be a less expensive version and could even have an LCD screen instead of an OLED screen.
Most of phone’s details have leaked out but a few questions remain. Will the phone have a fingerprint reader embedded into the screen? Will the phones have improved facial recognition to compete more directly with Apple’s Face ID? And lastly, will Samsung jack the prices in line with the latest iPhone prices?
Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy S10 at an event in San Francisco on February 20. We’ll have a team on the ground to tell you more about the device.
Earth received most of the elements for life from a massive collision with another planet

They say that most of the essential elements on Earth for life likely came from the planet that Earth collided with. Samsung is clearly not a fan of the notch and for the most part, have avoided using it for their phones. Various leaks of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 have shown that Samsung is opting for a hole-in display which does away with the notch, but at the same time retains a special cut out for the front-facing camera.
Presumably this is something that Samsung is hoping more smartphone makers will adopt because they have announced a new ISOCELL sensor designed for such devices. According to Samsung, this sensor has been designed to do just that, thanks to its size that lets it get tucked away into a tiny module which makes room for more display space.
The company has also reassured that they are not sacrificing image quality in favor of size. They claim that the new sensor will actually allow users to take brighter and sharper photos even in low-light. While they were not explicit, we can only imagine that this sensor will probably find its way into the Galaxy S10.
According to Jinhyun Kwon, vice president of System LSI sensor marketing at Samsung Electronics, “The ISOCELL Slim 3T2 is our smallest and most versatile 20Mp image sensor that helps mobile device manufacturers bring differentiated consumer value not only in camera performance but also in features including hardware desig. As the demand for advanced imaging capabilities in mobile devices continue to grow, we will keep pushing the limits in image sensor technologies for richer user experiences.”
