Tesla Is Raising Supercharger Prices Worldwide

Tesla has made some major changes in recent weeks to improve its bottom line as it seeks sustainable profitability. The company is reportedly raising Supercharger rates across the globe. It’s apparently raising per kWh rates by almost 33 percent in several markets. The company says that it has decided to increase prices to In a statement, Tesla said it was increasing prices to “better reflect differences in local electricity costs and site usage.”

The electric car company recently announced that it was ending the customer referral program which provided new Tesla customers with six months of Supercharging for free if they used an existing customer’s referral code to purchase their vehicle. Tesla also announced last week that it’s cutting 7 percent of its entire workforce.

The company has been heavily investing in the expansion of its Supercharger network over the past couple of years. It says that new locations are being added on a weekly basis and that it doesn’t think of these chargers as “profit center.” The Superchargers are being shifted from a state / region pricing scheme to a pricing structure that’s based on an individual charging station.

This is being done to take cognizance of local demand and power rates. Take New York for example. The Supercharger rate there was $0.24 per kWh state-wide but with this change, the rate at downtown NYC locations has gone up to $0.32 per kWh which is an increase of 33 percent. Prices in California have gone up from $0.26 per kWh to as high as $0.36 per kWh at some stations. Tesla owners in Europe have confirmed the price hike as well.

Chevy Finds New Brick Roads with a Full-size LEGO Silverado Truck

It’s awesome to see people build big things with LEGO bricks. Chevrolet teamed up with students from the Oxford Community School’s First LEGO League, and Detroit’s Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary’s A World in Motion Program to unveil a full-size replica of the Silverado truck made entirely of LEGO bricks.

Specifically, the brick-built creation is a reproduction of the 2019 Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss. The truck was built by 18 LEGO Master Builders and took over 2,000 hours of work to select and place each brick. A total of 334,544 pieces were used to make the truck, which has working headlights. In total, the model weighs in at a whopping 3,307 pounds, which is still roughly 1,800 pounds less than an actual Silverado 1500 Trail Boss.

The LEGO truck was built in partnership between Chevy and Warner Bros. to celebrate “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part”, The film will hit theaters on February 8. If you happen to stop by the North American International Auto Show between now and January 27, you can catch a glimpse of the LEGO Silverado in person.

Why Do We Forget?

To live is to forget—account numbers, names, the precise locations of keys and wallets, friends from childhood, peripheral characters from prestige TV shows, inside jokes, past ambitions, U.S. history, much else. Facebook Reportedly Trying To Pander To Teens With A Meme Hub

Facebook at one point in time was seen as a “cool” amongst the younger crowd, but there have been some studies done in the past to suggest that the social platform was no longer viewed as being “cool” with the youth as other platforms such as Snapchat gained popularity. However it looks like Facebook wants their younger audience back.

A report from TechCrunch has revealed that Facebook is apparently trying to win teens back over to its platform with the development of something called “LOL”. We’re not sure if it’s short for something besides the obvious, but apparently it is supposed to act as a meme hub where users can find funny videos, GIF-like clips, and so on – basically things that Facebook thinks teens might like.

LOL is said to be in private beta at the moment where about 100 high school students are said to be part of it and have signed a non-disclosure agreement. Facebook has since confirmed the existence of the hub which they claim will be a “home for funny meme content”. The social network also states that they are undecided as to whether or not LOL will be part of Facebook’s main app or if it could launch as a separate app.

We’re not sure if this platform will be a success amongst teens since it does feel like Facebook is trying a bit too hard, but who knows, maybe it might work.

Melting Metal LEGO Minifigs Like Mini Terminators

What you’re about to watch is either a James Cameron movie with a VERY low budget, or a bunch of LEGO minifigs made out of gallium and melted for fun. It’s actually the latter, and it is very fun to watch. YouTuber DaveHax used LEGO minifig shaped ice molds to make some figures, then melted them like little T-1000s. It may just be the best thing ever.

Gallium is a solid metal at room temperature but has a melting point of around 86°F (30°C), and that’s what allows the magic to happen so easily. Minifigs look awesome in gallium, but they look even cooler when they melt. Too bad Dave couldn’t find a way to make it wear a tiny police uniform.

First, he tried to put them on a hot tray, but only the feet melted. Then he tried candles under the tray, but still no Terminator melting. They did melt, but not in the coolest way, but once he leaned it against the back of the tray, that’s when he got that sweet Terminator action. Check it out:

BTW I love Dave’s sciency voice.
