Amazon Details Vision To Make All Shipments Net Zero Carbon

Amazon wants to do better for the sake of the environment and to that end, the company today detailed its Shipment Zero vision for net zero carbon shipments. Amazon says that it aims to make all shipments net zero carbon. It expects 50 percent of all shipments to be net zero by 2030.

This initiative is in line with Amazon’s long-term goal to power its global infrastructure using 100 percent renewable energy. It says that with the improvements in electric vehicles, aviation bio fuels, reusable packaging, and renewable energy, it can now see a path to net zero carbon delivery of shipments to customers. It has set a goal of reaching net zero carbon for 50 percent of all Amazon shipments by 2030.

The company says that it will share its progress on this journey by releasing company-wide carbon footprint data in addition to related goals and programs later this year. This is the result of an extensive project over the past two years in which Amazon developed an advanced scientific model to carefully map out its carbon footprint.

Amazon acknowledges that achieving the Shipment Zero target won’t be easy but it feels that “it’s worth being focused and stubborn on this vision” and that it’s committed to seeing it through.

ZTE Launching Axon 5G Smartphone At MWC 2019

Quite a few companies will be unveiling new 5G smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona next week. You can now add China-based ZTE to the list. Most recently in the news for its troubles with the U.S. government, the company has confirmed that it will be launching an Axon-branded 5G smartphone at MWC 2019.

ZTE has posted a teaser image on Weibo confirming that it will be unveiling a 5G smartphone at the upcoming trade show in Barcelona. The teaser suggests that this device will be released under its Axon-branding for smartphones.

The company isn’t new to the 5G race. It has been working on 5G devices, both smartphones and networking products, for a few years now. It did showcase a prototype of a 5G phone at MWC last year and it seems that this year, ZTE will bring a device that’s going to be commercially available down the line.

No further details are available about this new smartphone right now. It may very well be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 platform as you’d expect this to be a flagship smartphone. It would thus use Qualcomm’s X50 5G NR modem for hopping on to the next-generation network. We’ll have to wait until MWC 2019 kicks off on February 25th to find out more about this device.

TCL’s Foldable Smartphone Could Bend Into A Smartwatch

TCL, the budget TV company that also makes smartphones under the BlackBerry Mobile and Alcatel brands, seems to be working on foldable smartphones as well. One of its concepts involves a foldable smartphone that can actually bend into a smartwatch. Sounds pretty neat, doesn’t it?

CNET reports that TCL is working on at least five devices with flexible displays. They include two smartphones, two tablets, and a flexible smartphone that can bend into a smartwatch. The information is based on company renderings and patent image filings.

One of the tablets has an inward folding display while the other has an outward folding panel much like the Royole Flexpai. The two smartphones also have similar folding variants but both seem to bend at the horizontal line like a conventional flip phone.

The last of these three flexible phones appears to be a tall and slender device that’s capable of curving into a cuff around a wrist. It’s not a design that you’d attach to conventional foldable smartphones, but TCL has evidently been toying with the idea.

It will be a while before any of these devices see the light of day. A company executive told the scribe last month that TCL’s first foldable device won’t arrive before 2020.

Fallout 4 Super Sledge Replica for Super Smashing Cosplay

Fallout 4 was the high point for the franchise, and it put some very cool weapons at your disposal. One of the stranger instruments of destruction in the game was the Super Sledge. This was a big sledgehammer with a rocket motor on the back.

The sole purpose of that Super Sledge was to smash the shite out of enemies in the game. This officially-licensed reproduction is a 1:1 version of the weapon from the game. Measuring in at 41″ long, it’s perfect for cosplayers.
