Samsung is preparing to launch a sports smartwatch and AirPods-like earbuds

Samsung’s newest product launch happens next week, but already the Korean tech giant has revealed its entire upcoming range of wearable devices that will seemingly be unveiled alongside the Galaxy S10.

That’s because the company’s Galaxy Wearable’s app was uploaded today with support for a range of unreleased products which include wireless earbuds, a sports-focused smartwatch, and a new fitness band.

First reported by The Verge — and originally noticed by @SamCentralTech on Twitter — the new wearables include a Galaxy Sport smartwatch, fitness bands Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e, Galaxy Buds, Samsung’s take on Apple’s AirPods. The devices have all been teased in various leaks in recent weeks but this confirmation from the Samsung app, deliberate or inadvertent, appears to all but confirm their impending arrival.

That said, we really can’t tell too much about the respective devices based on the app, which just shows basic renders of each device.

Still, that might just be enough of a tease to general a little more interest in what promises to be Samsung’s biggest consumer launch event of the year.

The Samsung unveiling comes days before Mobile World Congress, the mobile industry’s biggest event of the year, kicks off — so expect to see new product launches coming thick and fast over the coming weeks.

Civilization VI’s Steam EULA Is Causing Some Concern Amongst Gamers

Let’s be honest here: how many of us actually bothers to read the terms and agreement when we install a new piece of software or sign up for a service? Given how lengthy some of these documents are, and how they can be so worded in such a tricky manner, for the most part it can go over the heads of many.

This is why sometimes companies can make changes to their user agreements that might disadvantage the customer, which is something that gamers who are playing Civilization VI on Steam are finding out. It seems that the the game’s EULA on Steam is causing some concerns for gamers, namely in terms of privacy as the EULA seems to suggest that the game will collect a lot of data on the gamer.

It reads, “The information we collect may include personal information such as your first and/or last name, e-mail address, phone number, photo, mailing address, geolocation, or payment information. In addition, we may collect your age, gender, date of birth, zip code, hardware configuration, console ID, software products played, survey data, purchases, IP address and the systems you have played on. We may combine the information with your personal information and across other computers or devices that you may use.”

Gamers have since left unhappy reviews for the game as a result of this EULA. It is unclear if the game’s publisher will be making changes or addressing these concerns, but it might be worth taking into consideration if you do plan to play the game. This isn’t the first time a company has gotten into hot water over their policies.

Previously Evernote faced a ton of backlash when they attempted to introduce a new privacy policy. The company later backtracked on their decision when faced with angry customers.

WhatsApp Will Soon Let Users Decide Who Can Add Them To Groups

We’re sure that some of you have experienced this in the past where you have been added to a group filled with random strangers, presumably for the purpose of spam. It can be annoying, although the good news is that it isn’t too difficult to quit these groups. However there is good news for WhatsApp users in a future update.

According to the folks at WABetaInfo, it seems that a future update to WhatsApp will prevent users from being randomly added to groups without their consent. The settings will allow users to choose who can add them to a group. These choices include “Everyone” which means that anyone who has your number, “My contacts”, or “Nobody”.

Presumably users will want to choose “My contacts” as it is a safer choice, or they can opt to not be added to group chats entirely. However in the event that someone outside of your contact list tries to add you to a group, you will receive an invitation to join a group that you can choose to accept or reject.

This will be useful in situations where relatives or friends are trying to organize a gathering and you’re added to a group whose participants might not be people you’re familiar with. No word on when the feature will be released, but it could be worth looking forward to. It should also in a way help to cut down and deal with the spam and fake news, a problem that WhatsApp seems to be having in recent times.
