New Star Wars Trilogy Is Still Being Worked On By Rian Johnson

Star Wars Episode 9 is expected to be launched this year which will officially conclude the latest set of trilogies of Star Wars movies. A couple of years ago ahead, Disney confirmed that they will be developing a new trilogy following this one, and that The Last Jedi’s director Rian Johnson will be working on them.

However there was a recent report by SuperBroMovies that apparently Johnson had stopped development on the new trilogy, to which the director has since refuted those rumors on Twitter According to Johnson, “No it isn’t true, I’m still working on the trilogy. With all due respect to the movie bros, who I’m sure are lovely kind bros with good fraternal intentions.”

The report seems to be based on speculation that Johnson might have dropped out of the new trilogy following the backlash that The Last Jedi movie had received. Express.co.uk had also pointed out that Disney’s CEO Bob Iger had failed to mention Johnson’s name when he spoke about the future of the Star Wars franchise which only served to fuel the rumors and speculation.

However based on Johnson’s tweet, it seems that all is well. When exactly these new Star Wars movies will be released is anyone’s guess, but as Iger was quoted as saying, “We are just at the point where we’re gonna start making decisions about what comes next after JJ’s (Star Wars Episode 9). But I think we’re gonna be a little bit more careful about volume and timing.”

Jared Leto’s Joker Movies Have Reportedly Been Shelved

If you were hoping to see more of Jared Leto’s Joker character in a possible standalone movie, you might be disappointed to learn that according to a report from Forbes, those movies have been shelved. We had previously heard a report that a standalone Joker movie starring Jared Leto could be in the works, but it seems that it will no longer be the case.

According to Forbes, “The Mad Love-type Joker and Harley Quinn film has also fallen by the wayside, as has the solo Joker project for Jared Leto’s version of the character from Suicide Squad.” That being said, Leto’s Joker movie wasn’t the only standalone Joker movie that was reported to be in the works.

There is also a Joker movie Joaquin Phoenix that will be starring in. It is said that this will be an “origin” movie, but exactly how it will fit into the DCEU remains to be seen. What’s interesting about the Forbes report is that it also claims that actress Margot Robbie will not be returning for the Suicide Squad sequel, and that the movie will be a “soft reboot”.

So far DC’s movies have not been as well-received compared to those by Marvel, but if this report from Forbes is accurate, it seems that things are definitely being shaken up and hopefully these changes will help DC’s movies garner the same amount of hype and attention as Marvel’s.
