The more valuable it becomes, the more attractive it also becomes for those who might want to take a piece or even the whole thing. As Tesla’s electric cars become more common and more easily identifiable, … Continue reading

Apple’s Video Service Pegged For April Launch

By now it’s no secret that Apple is working on their own video streaming service. The company has been busy courting TV show producers, writers, actors, and buying up shows and movies for its catalogue, but the big question is when will the service be launched? According to the latest rumors, it seems that we might be able to expect its launch this April.

This is in line with an earlier report which suggested that the service could be launching this coming Spring, so an April launch sounds about right. So far based on the report, the streaming service will be available for device owners for free with original content, and it will also offer subscriptions to other streaming services. This reportedly includes Starz, Showtime, and Viacom.

As for other services such as HBO and Netflix, there is a chance that they won’t be part of this. Apple is apparently in talks with HBO but aren’t too far along in terms of negotiations, and that currently Amazon is offering a much lucrative deal to HBO versus Apple which could affect HBO’s decision.

Many have pushed for Apple to adopt a subscription service as it generates a more steady stream of revenue versus ala carte purchases. Some analysts have also predicted that Apple could stand to make a lot of money from its services segment, which includes Apple Music. Given how competitive the field is, it remains to be seen if Apple has what it takes to be successful.
