Some Dell Hybrid Laptop Power Adapters Have Been Recalled

The Dell Hybrid Power Adapter is essentially a power brick and a power bank that lets users have backup power for their notebook even when they’re not close to an outlet. It’s a modular power adapter with a 2-in-1 design that lets users carry one or both the adapter and power bank. Some of those hybrid adapters have now been recalled due to shock risks.

Dell has issued a recall of the Hybrid Power Adapter versions that it made between January 2017 and March 2017. The recall comes following 11 reports of the adapters breaking and exposing internal components. That is what creates the shock risk. Some 8,900 of the affected adapters are in the United States.

Those who have one can check if they need to send theirs back by looking at the manufacturing code. The affected units have the following manufacturing code printed on the back: “CN-05G53P – LOC00 – XXX – XXXX – AXX,” the “X” here represents a number.

Dell sold these adapters through its own website in addition to Amazon and other online retailers. It’s offering free replacements for all customers that are affected by the recall. The company is also selling later versions of the Hybrid Power Adapter as they don’t pose a shock risk to users.

Terra robot mower makes life easier

The iRobot Terra™ introduces cutting-edge navigation technology and a unique wireless beacon system for a more intelligent robot lawn mower.

Having a well manicured lawn to return home to is always a joy, but the trick is the hard work that is required to be put in before you are able to reap the visual harvest. iRobot Corp. has long been a strong advocate of home automation, and their latest release will change the way folks take care of their lawns with the introduction of the Terra robot mower. The Terra robot mower boasts of state-of-the-art mapping and navigation technologies, delivering high-performance and high-quality mowing without requiring a degree in rocket science for installation.

With the iRobot Terra, homeowners will be able to enjoy cutting-edge navigation technology in addition to a unique wireless beacon system that results in a more intelligent robot lawn mower. What makes the iRobot Terra robot mower different from other “dumb” mowers would be the use of iRobot’s Imprint Smart Mapping technology that helps it learn of its environment and surroundings. While it goes about mowing your lawn like a regular person, it will do so intelligently as it navigates through the entire yard, cutting in an efficient manner via straight, back-and-forth lines.

The Terra is able to remember just where it is in the yard at the moment, as well as figure out just how much more work is required before its task is finished. What I love about this is the fact that it will not grumble at all with the amount of work that still needs to be done. In the event where the battery life starts to run low, the Terra has enough reserves to return to its base and obtain a recharge. Once there is sufficient charge, it will then resume mowing until the job is done.

There is no word on pricing details just yet, but it ought to be released sometime later this year. I sure hope that the amount of time freed from mowing the lawn with the Terra can be better invested elsewhere.
