The 5th-generation iPad mini was teased today with abilities that match those of higher-end devices. This is largely due to the addition of parts that’d previously been used on other devices – much like the most recent standard iPad. The standardization of parts used here would (and does) lower the cost of production for the device while bringing higher processing … Continue reading
For years now, Apple has relied on its proprietary Lightning connector for iPhone and iPad charging, but when the company started shipping modern MacBooks that support USB-C, that led to a lot of speculation that Apple’s mobile devices were next. In the case of the iPad, that turned out to be true, as the latest iPad Pro features charging and … Continue reading
The human body can withstand a lot before giving up and dying: falls from second-story windows, years of fevered substance abuse, wolf attacks, etc. We have a pretty good idea of what it can’t tolerate, but some ways of dying instantly have received less attention than others, and speed is one of these. We’ve all seen…

Quite a few mobile companies will be heading to the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona towards the end of this month to showcase their latest products. 5G phones will get a lot of time under the spotlight this year and many companies will be bringing their models as well. OnePlus has been talking up its 5G phone for a few months and it has now revealed that a 5G phone prototype will indeed be shown off at MWC 2019.
OnePlus won’t be making a big splash at MWC 2019 as some of its rivals but it will have a presence at Qualcomm’s MWC booth from February 25th through February 28th. It will have a 5G “prototype” on display which will enable visitors to get a taste of the next-generation mobile network.
It’s not like anyone in Barcelona will just be able to walk up to Qualcomm’s booth. The Mobile World Congress is not open to the public so most OnePlus fans will just have to wait for MWC coverage from their favorite blogs and YouTubers to find out more about the device that might potentially reveal key details about the first OnePlus 5G smartphone.
Not much is known about this device right now but OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has previously said that the company is trying to ensure that the price of this device can be kept under $1,000. That could give it an edge given that other 5G phones from the likes of Samsung are expected to cost well north of $1,000.

Liphier Cavalry Robots are robotic toys which are designed for battle. The little robots can be controlled via the accompanying mobile app to defend or attack head-on. These interactive robots are described as self-balancing, but they look like they just spin around on wheels. Still, they look like fun.
Each 5.3″ tall robot has a “laser” gun and reflective shield. You can send out digital attacks and block commands through the app, so it seems like you could have some pretty tactical fighting back and forth. These robots can be used in four different battle modes and you can adjust the sensitivity before each battle:
- LASER BEAM: click to launch, resulting in medium damage to opponents, every 10 shots need to reload.
- REFLECTIVE SHIELD: stop and reflect the beam from opponents.
- DESTROY CANNON: click to fire, causing minor damage and then briefly losing control after launching.
- PARTICLE GUN: long press to launch, causes high damage and require cooling time after launching.
The robots deliver up to 25 minutes of battle time per charge, which isn’t bad as remote-controlled toy robots go. You can grab a pair of these little fighting robots for just $69.99 over on Amazon.
