Skype Video Calls Get Automatic Background Blur

Not too keen on showing the background when you’re in a Skype video call? Microsoft is introducing just the perfect solution for you. The company has revealed that Skype will now automatically blur the background in a video call so that the focus always remains on the subject and not what’s behind them.

The background blur feature in Skype is quite similar to background blur in Microsoft Teams which was introduced a few months back. Users no longer have to stress about their messy room as they can blur the background with a simple toggle or right click. The background is blurred instantly and subtly so that the user remains the only focal point.

This is done using artificial intelligence which is trained in human form detection. The AI is able to keep the user in focus during the call while applying a blur to their background. The technology has been trained enough to detect hair, hands, and arms. So it will be just as easy to make a Skype video call with blur enabled than without.

Skype’s background blur feature is going to be available on most desktops and laptops with the latest version of the app. The company hasn’t confirmed if this feature will be extended to the mobile versions as well.

Microsoft Offering Original Crackdown Free For Xbox One

Crackdown 3 has been in development for quite a long time and the game is finally going to be released on February 15th. To drive up the hype for this title, Microsoft has decided to offer the original Crackdown title free for the Xbox One. The original title was launched back in 2010 for the Xbox 360.

Even though the game was first launched for the Xbox 360, like many other titles from that time, it’s not backwards compatible on the Xbox One S and Xbox One X. The title is being offered for free to any and all Xbox One owners, even those who haven’t pre-ordered Crackdown 3.

This offers players who have never experienced Crackdown before to get a sense of the franchise before they decide whether or not they want to spend money on the latest title. This isn’t the first time that Microsoft is offering this game for free, though. It previously did that during its XO18 fan festival in November last year.

Many are undoubtedly looking forward to Crackdown 3. The game’s stress test has begun today so those who want to take part in the multiplayer test will be able to do so today. Microsoft has previously confirmed that Crackdown 3 will be added to Xbox Game Pass on the launch day itself.
