Braille Gaming Dice: Feel the Pips

If you’ve ever wondered how blind people play tabletop and RPG games, here’s your answer. Braille dice. A lack of sight doesn’t have to keep you from enjoying a good game of D & D. These cool dice were created by Jack Berberette as part of his Dots RPG project, which is all about making tabletop gaming more inclusive to the blind.

You can find the 3-D printing shapefiles for free HERE, or you can purchase finished dice several colors and sides from his Shapeways shop. Dice collectors will want to get their hands on these too. They come in all of the dice varieties that you need to play your games: D6, D10, D20 and everything in-between.

They look pretty sci-fi to me. One thing’s for sure, you won’t be able to fool your blind friends anymore by telling them they rolled a different number. You’re terrible for doing that by the way. Now they are going to wonder why their game is getting so much better, and it was all your fault. Jack really did a good job on these. They are very easy for blind gamers to use, and with a bit of learning the rest of us can figure it out too.

The Raspberry Pi store is much cooler than an Apple Store

The Raspberry Pi Foundation just unveiled a brand new project — an actual store. If you live in Cambridge in the U.K., you can now buy a bunch of sweet Raspberry Pis to tinker and develop some cool stuff.

The Raspberry Pi has always been about making coding more accessible. And a physical retail space fits the bill. The foundation has developed a lineup of insanely cheap computers with an ARM-based processor, a bunch of ports, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The latest flagship model, the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ costs only $35. But if you want something smaller and cheaper, there are other models for various needs.

Maybe you just need a tiny computer for some internet-of-things project. You can opt for the Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+ for $25 in that case. It has a bit less RAM and fewer ports, but it works pretty much like any Raspberry Pi. There’s also power-efficient models that cost less than $10 — the Raspberry Pi Zero models.

I never really thought about Raspberry Pi stores. But the introduction video makes a strong case in favor of such a store. The product lineup is getting a bit complicated and it’s always good to be able to talk to someone about your projects.

Moreover, the foundation can use this store as a showcase for some cool examples. You can also buy goodies, such as mugs and plushy toys. Those white-and-red keyboard and mouse look cool too.

With this system, the whole world can rest a little more … Continue reading

Regrettable Microsoft ads bash Office 2019

By now, most of us are aware that Microsoft would much rather have us subscribing to Office 365 instead of buying something like Office 2019 and calling it good. Microsoft, in fact, wants you to buy a subscription to Office 365 so bad that it has absolutely no problem trashing Office 2019 in a new series of ads. Yes, you … Continue reading

GrubHub Now Delivers Taco Bell Nationwide

Looking for your nightly Taco Bell fix but don’t want to get up off the couch? GrubHub is here to the rescue. Taco Bell is now offering nationwide delivery in partnership with GrubHub. The chain has previously tried its hand at delivery in a partnership with DoorDash as well, however, its GrubHub partnership will operate at a much larger scale.

Taco Bell officially announced nationwide delivery via GrubHub today. It’s offering free delivers for all orders over $12 excluding tax for a limited time. To make the entire experience faster, Taco Bell has integrated its sales system directly into the GrubHub app. This means that pickups are timed to the moment an order is ready so that it can be delivered to the customer hot and fresh.

A US partnership between Yum! Brands and GrubHub was announced last year to speed up online ordering for pickup and delivery. That partnership has now resulted in this delivery service. GrubHub says that it will add extra drivers in areas near a Taco Bell location so that the orders can be delivered to customers faster.

Customers looking to place an order can visit tacobell.com and enter their zip code before they’re redirected to GrubHub. They could also do the same through GrubHub’s website or its mobile app to place an order at the nearest Taco Bell restaurant with delivery available.
