Why Moto G7 Plus is set aside

In addition to the Moto G7, Play, and Power, there’s the Motorola Moto G7 Plus. This device’s name implies one thing, but means another. It’s not the sort of “Plus” phone you see with other brands. This device is only slightly different from its closest brethren. Both devices have the same display, internal storage, microSD availability, but the processor is … Continue reading

Apple’s Team Changes Hint At 5G Modem Design

Apple relies on external suppliers such as Qualcomm and Intel for iPhone modems but it has long been reported that the company is interested in designing its own modems. That would enable the company to reduce its reliance on suppliers and save money in the process. Some internal team changes at Apple now suggest that the company is looking to design 5G modems for iPhones.

Reuters reports that Apple has moved its modem chip engineering group into the in-house hardware technology group from its supply chain division. This is being taken as an indication that Apple is now seriously looking to develop its own modems.

Apple’s senior vice president of hardware technologies Johny Srouji has reportedly been tasked with the modem design project since January this year. He joined Apple’s team in 2008 to lead chip design and worked on the custom A series processors that you find in many iOS devices. Could this mean that Apple’s first 5G iPhone could come with an in-house modem?

Earlier rumors have suggested that Apple will opt for a Samsung or MediaTek modem for the first 5G iPhone. So nothing is set in stone just yet and we can expect to hear more about Apple’s modem design plans in the future.

Robotic Comedy Duo Use AI to Perform Their Routine

AIchan and GONta are the world’s latest comedy duo. These two funny robots were created by a lab at Japan’s Konan University and use an AI program to respond to one another and tell jokes. They do Japanese stand-up comedy routines, which usually involves a “straight man” and a “funny man” who trade jokes back and forth based on misunderstandings, puns, gags, and wordplay. You know, like Abbot and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, and other classic acts who bring the funny.

One is even tall while the other is short and fat. Classic comedy formula there. The robots use an AI program to search for information on topics and spontaneously put together their show. That AI also no doubt will make them divas as their stardom grows. Now, all we need is a robot agent that will take 10% of their power for every gig it books.

Are they funny? I have no idea since I don’t speak Japanese. Perhaps one of our readers can tell us. They don’t look all that funny to me. I hope they can at least clean the floor like a Roomba while they are doing their show. Funny or not, my floors need to be cleaned. And that ain’t no joke.

Dread Pirate Roberts Action Figure Will Most Likely Kill Your Wallet in the Morning

Of all the flicks that I remember from growing up in the 1980s, one of the best was The Princess Bride. I’ll admit to not wanting to watch it in my youth because it sounded like a “girl movie” to my younger self. Once I watched it, it was fantastic – with giants, sword fights, and matches of wits.

Fans of The Princess Bride will love this premium action figure of Westley as The Dread Pirate Roberts. Standing 12.25″ tall, the sixth-scale figure looks just like Cary Elwes. It comes with two heads: one shows Westley’s face, the other is Westley wearing the Dread Pirate Roberts’ mask.

The figure has that bitchin’, but sort of pubey, mustache from the films and comes complete with his black pirate costume, sword, and wine goblet. It comes with seven different gloved hands, and two bare hands allow for ambidextrous sword fights. ThinkGeek will sell you one, as you wish, for $199.99.
